I have Verizon its fine. The only problem that I have trouble with service is in certain areas around Price Center and some parts of Geisel. I have a friend who has AT&T and has the same issues. You should be ok regardless.

I'm on T-Mobile, and I've yet to hit a dead spot in all of La Jolla.

Oh, and I'm sure there are coverage maps on the cell providers websites.

Verizon and ATT are good all over campus

T-Mobile doesn't get much/any reception in PC, Geisel, and other places on campus

"T-Mobile doesn't get much/any reception in PC, Geisel, and other places on campus"

I've been to price center, geisel, and over a good chunk of la jolla. Never once did I ever get anything but the maximum signal (Blackberry 8100).

If you knew anything about cell phones you would know that not all phones are equal in the reception they can pull from cell towers. (Not all of us can afford fancy Blackberrys) You would also know that T-Mobile has one of the smallest native national network footprints. YMMV...

and as far as not being able to afford a "fancy" blackberry, that 10$* premium you're paying for using the verizon network could be put toward the purchase of a decent phone.

*when comparing the least expensive verizon plan against least expensive t-mobile plan.

Actually I have a VX8700...it is a "decent" phone (in your terms). As for the network, your cell phone might as well be a brick if you can't make a phone call in an emergency... I'll stick with the $10 premium. By the way, before this turns into a Verizon vs. T-Mobile argument, I am no Verizon fanboy...I hate how they cripple their phones and employ a generic menu system across all their cellphones.
