I got this email today about Winter 2010 refunds, but none of my friends got the email. I was wondering if anyone else got this?Here's the context of it:

As a result of the 2009 holiday season, UC San Diego (excluding the hospitals and clinics) will officially close for 16 days between Saturday, December 19, 2009 and Sunday, January 3, 2010. This closure will result in reduced operations. Students who are not currently participating in Direct Deposit may see a delay in receipt of their printed check. The Winter term begins on January 4, 2010.

We are strongly urging all students as of Winter 2009 quarter to enroll in Direct Deposit. Financial aid refunds will disburse using direct deposit to a student's bank account (Parent PLUS Loans excluded) on January 4, 2010. You can provide your banking information to the university online using the Web site: Student Billing

If you do not have a bank account, now is the time to open an personal checking or savings account so your funds can be disbursed directly to you. Note, you should not use anyone's account but your own when signing up for direct deposit. Please check with your bank to verify that the information you will be using is correct. You need to know:

1. If you are using your checking or savings account (individual accounts only. Joint accounts will be rejected).

2. Your account number that can be used for direct deposit

3. Your bank routing number

After you sign up for Direct Deposit, it will take approximately 7-10 days for us to ensure that we have the correct bank account from your bank.

Sounds interesting, I'm already enrolled in direct deposit, so that might be why I haven't received the email. But just in case, verify the sender (maybe post it here), and don't follow any links just yet (this might sound obvious to you, but other readers with the similar email might take heed).
