I will be transferring to UCSB as a junior this fall and I am deciding about where should I live. I've heard that UCSB is usually known as a party school and I'm not much of a party person (rather, I really don't like parties). I was wondering where should I live in order to avoid as many parties as possible and that is pretty efficient overall.
you'll probably be staying in Isla Vista, so just stay away from the ocean and you'll be fine. The farther from the coast, usually the less parties, with Del Playa road being the craziest.
if you do get on campus housing then you don't have to worry too much about parties since that usually happens in the freshmen-majority dorms. If you get manzanita then you'll have a very quiet environment.
yeah, kaoandres, i'm exactly the same! i'm not a party person and I want to live in a less crazy environment, but I also want to live somewhere sociable. see, this is good already! Proof that not everyone at UCSB is going to be the stereotypical party person.
manzanita village and san rafael are for continuing student. san rafael also has a transfer floor so youll be surrounded by people who knows no one and want to make friends. you can also sign up for the apartments but i think making friends there would be a little more difficult. all the other halls are mostly freshman, especially francisco torres/santa catalina.
Check out willowcreekgoleta.com. It's quiet and close to school. Living in a home is way better than living in the dorms or in an apartment. You'll have more freedom and space.
