Current UCSB Students/Alumni-I have a housing question!

THIS IS NOT A FORUM ASKING FOR THE PROS/CONS FOR EACH DORM, SO DON'T FRET!!

I just have a simple question:

When you applied for housing freshman year-or any year for that matter-what choice number housing did you get?

In other words, you listed your preferences when applying for housing, first through seventh. Which number (1,2,3,4,5,6 or 7) choice did you actually get?

(Just wondering what my chances are to get into my first/second choice).

Thanks ahead of time!

I got my first choice, but I think that choosing a specific floor such as substance free or scholars floor improves your chance of getting a specific dorm.

i hear if you ask to room with someone (and they ask to room with you) that you're more likely to get your first pick (if they request the same dorm you do, that is).

^Ah, yes, that makes sense. I'll probably do that for my second year. Thank you!

If you rank FT #1, you automatically get it.

I've heard of someone who ranked Santa Rosa #1-10 without ranking anything else, and he got the dorm.

I'm a first-year who's currently staying at Manzanita, so if you have any other questions, ask away.

My daughter and her friend requested the same dorms in the same order, as roommates in 2004. They got their last-choice (FT) but ended up being really happy. That was right after FT was renovated, and except for it being a really rainy year, they were glad it worked out the way it did. You'll probably love wherever you are assigned, because that is where you will make your friends. Even after graduation, my D is living in SF with girls from FT.

Well I do have some questions about dorms...

I got in the honors program and I wanted to apply for the scholars hall to help me get the San Nicolas building. First, is this building pretty nice? Any info about it would be helpful. Ocean-view rooms, laundry facilities, proximity to campus/beach, ANYTHING. And also, is the scholars floor FUN? Im imagining the stereotypical geeky kids who only study. But they have fun there? Right?
