i am going to the one in Irvine tomorrow. i will let you know what goes on. the meeting is basically just going to be people talking and trying to convince you to join the school. they might have some insights on the majors and colleges. but i really dont think it will be anything that isnt on their website.
keep you posted

That would be great if someone could post a recap for those of us who are too far from the reception.

not alot went on...they talked about how good some of their programs were (astro physics, marine bio..etc). then, they touched upon financial aid and how important it is to get your fafsa done. several other guest speakers spoke about how great a time they had at ucsc. (friendly people, allowed them to grow..etc).
it was very general. the only thing that was really informative was the information fair where you could ask UCSC staff about whatever. Everything that went they said is on the website pretty much.
You Didnt Miss Much.

oh i asked a representative about whether bikes were practical and he said since there are so many hills unless you really like biking you should bring one. Students either walk or take the shuttle to class. He said no matter what resident hall your in you will have to take the shuttle eventually.
hope that was informative
