| Yeah this writing test is confusing the sh_t out of UCSC students. There is no notifications as far as I can tell and I cannot imagine that everyone is going to know to take the exam on May 10. I might call up UCSC tomorrow and get some information. |

| As far as I can tell, if you have 680 and above on the SAT writing portion, it means you are exempt from the requirement. |

| yeah...I got an email about summer orientation which had 3 attachments. after reading through the first and third ones, I read the 2nd which had a lot of extra FAQs on the bottom. I found a little blurb about it and then pretty much NOTHING until the letter they sent me about it. thats it. so if you havent accepted, thats probably why they havent sent you anything. |

| Ahh, last year the test was also on my prom day. It's real fun waking up at 7 in the morning to get to the test site to write some really simple essay (I agree, it's 10x easier than the SAT's prompt). THEN have to start worrying about prom afterwards. But really, don't think too highly of this test.. I did no studying whatsoever (how can you possibly study for an essay, besides vocab?) and passed.
If it was anything like last year, they sent notifications to everyone who was accepted to a UC to take the test and where the test site is. You should be getting an email soon if you haven't fulfilled the requirements. Lastly, if you really cannot take the test that day, you can take it at the UC sometime after you move in and before class starts. Or, at least that's how UCD does it. |

| What you said Marz makes a lot of sense. I mean, they cannot require that you take a placement test and not tell you about it. They also cannot assign one date to take the exam and expect you to make it. High school seniors are busy, and UCSC knows that.
I am assuming if students do not take the test on this date, UCSC will probably allow students to take the writing placement exam during orientation. |

| ya Trumpet, it says on their Summer Orientation website that you'll be taking Placement Exams at the summer orientation if needed. and at the Spring Spotlight, the person working there also said you'll be taking the placement exam at UCSC if you either failed the test or didn't take it, but the test at UCSC will be harder than AWPE.

| An 8 is not a bad score... comes out to a 600 or something. Like I said, the placement exam is much easier than the SAT writing. Easier topic, more time, less pressure. You will do fine, just don't worry about it. |

| I'm doing this for UCSB...
its a uc-wide thing
Paying after May 1 is $75 rather than $65
How long should the essay be? (Page wise...by handwriting not by typing... since I don't have word count in my pen) |
