It is pretty hard since a lot of sophomores want that, or so I hear. You get your housing preferenes sheet relatively soon I am guessing. You request a single room when you request roommates and such.

But... don't be worried. Get a double dorm and meet a new friend... its a new experience. Everyone else is a bit unsure about their roommate as well.

You get a survey and they try to match you up with someone of similar characteristics: bedtime/music/drugfree/smokefree etc.
