Hey I'm going to be living at Crown college this fall at UCSC. Is anyone elso going to Crown? Whats it like? Is there any advice I should have before going there. What about any interesting facts or statistics?

I'm going too. Since I'm a freshman, I might not be the best informed, but from what I've heard it's gonna have a lot of science-directed people/nerdy types there. So if you're a science major, great? I'm thinking about going into that field myself.

I think it's high up on a hill, so great for leg training, and geographically I figure (from the maps) that it's around 1 to .5 miles away from the main college buildings, the whole complex thing in the middle with the natural science/large mass of non-residential buildings.

In terms of occupant makeup, I assume it's filled with science-oriented people, so nerds, so I was like great! I'm gonna bring my star trek uniform, you know they had memorabilia uniforms from the original crew on Ebay, along with my light saber, all my D&D gear so I can slaughter some gold dragons by rolling Double Damage, my pocket protector, and ...

Yeah. Just kidding.

I figure that there will be some of those, but I hope, cross my fingers and hope that there'll be people like me, with that special sort of perpetual-ennui that comes from being in school too long. So, to any of you crown-goers, maybe list yourself to make our own statistics/facts about the future occupants. Most likely it'll be full of a mix of people, maybe not so many preps or athletic people as Stevenson or Nine and ten, but hey, college is what you make of it.

Yah I heard there's a lot of nerdy people at Crown. The good thing is that yes I am going to be studying biology. Thats one of the reasons that I chose Crown. But really, I don't look like a nerd at all. Im about 6'3" slightly muscular ("toned" is a good word), and I dress according to current trends (or at least I think I do). I know I'm a nerd on the inside, but outside I don;t fit the stereotype at all. Maybe thats just my imagination

4:6? Where do you get these ratios? I figured it'd be a little bit lower.

Ya... actually UCSC overall has a girl to guy ratio of 52:48 or something like that, so I would think it would be along the same lines at crown college, but I'm not sure. I don;t think it would be 4:6 though.

actually for the 2011 crownies, the female male ratio was supposedly 55 females for every 45 male. previously though, yes, i believe the ration was something like 4 females for every 6 males.
