Is there any possibilities to get someone pick me at the airport to the campus?

I am an international student and plan to arrive at UCSC around sep 17th. Is there any way for me to find someone who would like to pick me at the San Fransisco or San Jose airport and drive me to the campus? I heard that I should pay for petrol and I am willing to. Please reply to this thread with anything that can help. Thx a lot~~~~

I also noticed on line that Santa Cruz Airporter provides shuttle from SJ and SF airport, but I cannot find more detailed information. How much would it cost respectively and does the shuttle have stable shift? I don't think it possible for me to change buses and metros with so many luggages....

Plus, where can I stay before the dorm is open? The university Inn seems a little bit expensive...

Looking forward for relies o(>_<)o

Contact the University directly. Explain your situation and they will help you out. I advise flying into San Jose not SFO not only is SJ closer it is a much smaller and easier airport to get navigate. Plus if you have to pay for a shuttle it will be less expensive to travel the shorter distance.

Expect to pay a premium for lodging in Santa Cruz. Unless you stay in a seedier part of town it'll cost you.

the almost cheapest and most reliable way? taxi from the airport to the san jose didiron station and then take a highway 17 bus to santa cruz
Santa Cruz Metro - Amtrak Highway 17 Express
the taxi comes out to about 15ish
metro is 4 dollars, exact change only.
cheapest way: get on a airport 10, get off at the caltrain stop, take the caltrain to the station, then get on a 17 (its about 6 dollars and super tedious)

the shuttle if i remember is about 40 from san jose.

definitely talk to the university, usually they offer something (ie. spring to summer session break is about 20 dollars a day though I dont know if they will do the same for moving in early, usually its ok.. you will probably have to pay a fee)
