How important is Greek Life at UCSC?

I have applied to UCSC as a transfer student and have already pledged a sorority at my current school (Alpha Chi Omega, and I don't think they have that at UCSC) so I won't be able to rush at UCSC. I'm pretty dead set on transferring though, and I was just wondering: does being in a sorority at UCSC make or break your social life? I know it sounds stupid, but that's the way it is at my current school and I just want to know whether or not I'll still have fun even not being in a sorority. Thank you!

Greek life is all but nonexistent in SC. Less than 10% (and probably more like 3%) of the student body is involved.
