Website for Student Advising?

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a website for student advising?

This would be a UCSC site where you can post whatever question or advice you need (either anonymously or with your name), and other people in UCSC can answer and have a sort-of discussion about whatever the question is. This could help with all kinds of things, academic questions, social, anything basically.

I'm thinking of creating a site for just that, so I want your input.

Isn't that was CC is for? There are a about a dozen of us UCSC students that lurk the boards and answer questions for new students.

Hmm, I don't see it like that. If there was a website specifically focused on advice, I think it would have a very different feel. There would be different categories for questions/discussions such as academic, social, etc. You would be on a first name basis unless you are anonymous. Sure a forum can be used for advising too, but if there was a site for specifically advising it would be better in my opinion.

There are people here from UCSC, but not as many as there could be. I was thinking of maybe talking to the faculty and seeing if I could get studentadvising.ucsc.edu or something like that. If it was a site on UCSC or specifically for UCSC, I imagine many more people would come to it.

The main difference between CC and what I am proposing is the environment/tone of the site. A forum has a very different feel.
