Telephone Services in housing

I see on the pamphlets for on-campus housing that they have telephone service...but would they be able to provide telephone service to your room directly?
Or is it just like one whole apartment with 1 telephone where everybody shares? Is telephone service exclusive to you within ur room unavailable even if you are willing to pay extra for it? Or are there specific colleges that provide that?

The reason I ask is because I have a job where I have to be on a landline in a relatively quiet environment. No cell phones. No PC phones.

Any feedback is much appreciated!

From what I read earlier today, I'm pretty sure there is one landline per apartment, not per person. You can use them for local and toll-free calls, but for long-distance calls you'll need to buy a phone card.

Each room has its own assigned telephone number that is shared by the roommates. However, the phone itself is not provided nor required. Person-specific phones/phonenumbers can't be bought, but it is unlikely your roomate/s would want to use a landline anyhow.
