Why is it taking so long...

stability17stability17 Posts: 29Registered User New Member
Okay.
So I sent in my application around early November I believe to UCF.

It's almost February and it's still in the "we've received your transcript" phrase online at UCF's website.

Should I contact them?
Has anyone else waited THIS LONG?
It just seems so long...I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing....

I mean my grades aren't horrible, but they surely weren't anything to absolutely shout about.

Lol longer. Since October. Another girl on here has been since like September I think or early October. I'm pretty sure they accept the really strong applicants first
and then the others after. I'm sending them an email soon.

Well it depends on the applicants as stability said. My friend sent in her transcripts and it took forever to get them, about two weeks. And they were sent electronically. As soon as they got them she was accepted. Same thing with me. I sent my app in during winter break and the school didnt open back up unitl jan 10. january 13th I had a decision. Got defered:/ But im sure ill get in. They wanted my semester grades, I sent just sent them in. So next week I should be getting a decision:) But you should definetley try calling them and see what's up. Be careful though, sometimes you get someone with a bad attitude who answers the phone. And that just makes the process even harder. I hope you do get accepted though! :)

What were your stats guys ? And I sent in a reactivation form to change my term from
fall to summer and I got this email today:

Recently you submitted a Reactivation Form for admission into UCF. Because you applied for our Fall 2011 academic term, your application is already being considered for the Summer 2011 term, therefore, we are deactivating your reactivation form - there is no need to submit the form for Summer review. The application process is one that takes time, since we give consideration to each individual. I know you are probably anxious for decision and I appreciate your patience and understanding. Please realize that your academic credentials, ACT scores, SAT scores, and high school grade point average, are on the low side of our midranges, which in turn hurts your competitiveness for admission. As such, it may take a bit longer for you to receive an admission decision, but please know, this delay in response does allow you optimal consideration. Also please understand that the admission process is a competitive one. The committee will hold your application while they assess the competitiveness of the applicant pool to see if your file becomes more competitive for admission later in the semester. Again, the committee also considers every fall applicant for summer admission if their application criteria is just under our midranges. It may be helpful for you to review the midranges of our Fall 2010 Freshman Class as well. I have listed these midranges below for you to review, but it is important to note that ranges represent the middle 50% of our Fall 2010 Freshman Class. This means, that 25% of our Freshmen students for Fall 2010, fell above and below these ranges. It is always best to fall in between or around these ranges to be competitive. However, these ranges are not minimums. Midrange High School GPA: 3.5 - 4.1Midrange SAT: 1170 - 1300Midrange ACT: 25 -29

I'm not sure that this is better than a defferal or not ? Like it sounds to me like they're just wating to see if they will have any room left for me. But deferred would mean that i HAVE to improve right? What do you guys think ?
Ughh this is soo stressful. Except my GPA isn't below their midrange I don't think... should be above. I haven't calculated my ucf GPA :/

I agree with you, it sound as if their saying, yeah were just waiting for some space. I guess now is time to just wait. If you get deferred then they'll list the reason. For example I was deferred for semester grade. I'm sure when they get those A's and one D lol, they'll except me:) The D was in math, I suck at that. The A's in D college courses So hopefully that will help me lol. But good luck, and don't stress. Atleast yours prob won't come out with you UF admission decision like mine lol. :)

Wait what are you saying about the UF decision ? lol
  • Smile93Smile93 Posts: 151Registered User Junior Member
Oh The UF decision comes out feb 11. Yesterday I sent my new transcripts to ucf because they got the wrong grades ugh. Lol it takes atleast5 days for ucf to get transcripts and process them. So next week they'll be processing and the week after I should have a decision from ucf. Which is around the same time of UF admission decision. So I'm very nervous lol:)

I think it's right to say theyre seeing if they have room for lower testing students.

Borderline is a really scary place to be right now for us ucf hopefuls. I really think for me theyre gonna offer me summer admission.

I applied october 7 and i still havent found out.

This is crazy, they shouldn't be doing this to thier applicants.
If they admit me for summer then I will have only a few months to get 15,000 for the summer semester.
