UCF students (Accepted into summer).

Would any UCF students, who were accepted into summer (Of any year, really) mind posting their stats? I'd just like to get basic understanding of whether or not I stand a good chance of getting into Summer B for 2012. If you have friends who were accepted, too, with lower scores and GPA's, that would be great to know, too. Thank you!

I got accepted to the summer term of 2011

GPA (weighted): 4.149
GPA (unweighted): 3.776
SAT: 1140/1600 or 1780/2400
President of Beta Club
Vice President of Science National Honor Society and National History Club
9 AP classes taken (Of the exams taken, I have an average of a 4)
AP Scholar w/ Honors

There's a lot more but I don't wanna drag on haha. These stats also got me into UCF's LEAD Scholars Program.

Oh, gosh, you GPA is great. I'm very worried now. I've heard of someone who got in with a 19 ACT, and a low GPA, but I'm not sure I find that as truth anymore...

To be honest, I applied for Fall but got deferred to the Summer because I took AP Statistics as my math class for my Senior year. I didn't actually take a real math class lol.

I will tell you this, UCF is becoming harder to get into because of it's population. I have met with the admissions president personally and he told me that out of the 25,000 that have applied this year, 20,000 are potential UCF students but only about 5,000-7,000 we're able to be accepted. In fact, I think I've heard of more people being rejected from UCF than schools like UF. UCF is become one of the hardest schools in Florida to get into.

I think what sealed my admission was my GPA. I barely had the test scores to get in.

UCF is definitely becoming a nationally-recognized school. It's making a name for itself.

so their reason for deferring you was because of you lacking a 4th math credit, not because of your stats at all, correct?

Even more of the reason to try to get in. Even people in illinois are beginning to respect UCF. My AP english teacher said if I was accepted, even for summer, it would be great. It's really a wonderful school, that's just becoming more and more competitive. I blame the acidemics and campus. Who WOULDN'T apply to this school? It's gorgeous! Do you think we'd stand a better chance if, say, we applied as early as august, and requesting summer?

as21608, yeah pretty much. I thought it was a little ridiculous. My school counted it as a math credit but not UCF.

WRITEfluidity, definitely apply as early as you can! It'll increase your chances by a lot.

I agree, that's ridiculous. That was one of my options to take next year and I thought it was a credit, good thing I didn't take it.

I will forever preach to juniors to not take AP Statistics their Senior year as their math class lol. I do regret it but I'm over it. At first I was kinda mad about having to go into Summer but at least I'll get used to the campus and college life before everybody else. Plus, there's nothing wrong with getting ahead with a few credits, now is there?

Of course now! I think it's, actually, better then starting in fall. The positives outweight the negatives

current UCF summer student

Honestly, it depends on more than just your gpa and sat scores. I thought it was a long shot for me to get into ucf b/c of how hard I've heard it is to get in. My gpa was around a 3.5 and my sat score, not including writing was like a 1060. I just worked really hard on my application and I think my essay was one of the major factors that helped me get in. Work really hard your senior year and GET INVOLVED! That always looks good on applications. Even if you don't think you're going to get in, still apply because I didn't think I would and ended up being accepted for this summer. Good luck

Ah, my GPA is lower then that:/ I had a tough sophomore and junior year due to two family friends dying of cancer, which I do explain in the essay-just finished both, and I think they're good, since writing is my strong subject what about community service hours? Other then awards i've won for violin, it's the only thing that would stand out. I have a total of about 620 hours, over 500 was from a coaching position for three years. Do you think that would help, maybe? I took the ACT again but got a 22, but I would have liked we. With writing, it was was 24. Unsure of my GPA, but in three Al's next year. What do you think? Advice would be great

This is a really good idea, I would like to know the people who got into Summer B as well and what they had. I have been creeping on these forums for a while and I am finally posting. Anyway, I might as well post this in here too, what do you guys think of a 24 (possibly 25 with writing) ACT? I am going to take it again (this was my first time), but I am wondering do you guys think that is good enough to get into UCF? (just in case it does not go up the next time I take it).

Also, my GPA is really low because of my freshman year a high school weighted GPA of 3.25 Do you guys think with a lot of CS and some ECs, I may be able to get in still? I have attended Stanton College Prep. my entire high school life which has all honors and AP classes, which is why in Freshman year my grades were so terrible. I have constantly grown and improved dramatically over the years. Anyway, what do you guys think?
