| I think you have an excellent chance of admission and if you get your ACT up (to around a 30) you could get into the Burnett honors college. I am not sure what UCF's criteria is for scholarships though. My elder daughter was offered (if memory serves me correctly) the Silver Pegasus Scholarship ($7600 over 4 years I think?) two years ago. Her admission stats were 3.83 GPA (private school) and 1330/2010 SAT. |

| I think you need a better score on standardized tests if you want to maximize your scholarship potential. They base their awards almost solely on GPA/Test scores. My stats were 4.3WGPA and 1500/2200 SAT and I got 27,000 over the 4 years. I'm fairly certain that it the most they'll award a student who isn't a National Merit Finalist.
The good news is, once you get down here you'll have plenty of opportunities for more scholarships as the Hospitality college gets the most money out of all programs at UCF.
If you have anymore questions about the Rosen college feel free to ask. I'm down here right now and will try my best to give you the answers you want. |

| coasterphil..
how will being an out-of-state student affect my chances of being accepted to Rosen? Also, I have taken the ACT again have raised my score to a 29. My GPA has also been raised to a 4.58. Will my chances be helped if I apply early? And, what are the average stats of those who have been accepted to the school? |

| You'll have no problem getting accepted, don't worry about that at all. |

| Apply early... UCF has rolling admissions. Apply early, and you'll have some kind of response in a relatively short time. Also, if you are in the running for merit aid you want to apply early while they have all their money. |

| I had the impression that the poster is thinking about next year... Since he/she asked if applying early would help, and clearly that ship has sailed for this year.
:-)
I could be wrong, though.. it's happened before. You're right, all the Pegasus $$ is probably gone for this year. |

| Ah, fair point. Spring Break has made me lose all sense of time.
Well good luck, you should do well with your stats and applying early. |

| Will applying for the summer term help me in the running for scholarship money or other sources of financial aid? And, I understand the Rosen Campus is nearly 30 miles away from the main campus, are the general education classes available to be taken at the Rosen campus? |

| They are available, but you'll only have one choice to satisfy each requirement. |

| I would advise doing your first two years at the main campus (I know of two hospitality majors that did that), taking all your prereq/gen eds there and then doing your second two years at the Rosen Campus. You would have more choices and more of a "college" experience that way. |

| In today's Orlando Sentinel:
The University of Central Florida made nearly $13 million in state-ordered spending cuts during this school year and expects a similar cut next year, school officials said. UCF, the state's second-largest public university with 48,000 students, has not announced layoffs, and a spokesman said Monday that no major announcements were planned at this time.
But it has left open positions unfilled, hired fewer non-tenure-track faculty members and combined courses this year.
UCF guarantees admittance to graduates of Valencia, Seminole, Lake-Sumter and Brevard community colleges through a special agreement. Shugart said he has been assured the agreement will stay in effect despite looming budget cuts. |

| cybermom, does this mean if you are transferring from one of those Junior colleges you are guaranteed acceptance into UCF? Is there still a GPA criteria? I understand that their has been a freeze on lateral transfers in the State of Florida from one University to the other, and that it is much easier to transfer in to a State University if you are coming from a Junior college. Somehow that seems so unfair. Any information on this? |
