UF for engineering, but for pre-med it won't make too much of a difference.

For premed:
What remains to be seen at UCF is if being premed here will give you a bump up in UCF's new medical school admissions or not. The stats on U Miami Med School admissions are probably available on their website somewhere. UF premed I wouldn't recommend unless you believe that you will be at the top of your (very large) class. The premed at UF is huge and the difficult science classes are grueling (weed out classes). Med schools want to see your MCAT scores and your GPA....go to the school where your GPA will be the best.

UF has one of the best engineering schools in the USA:

University of Florida College of Engineering - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also pretty darn good for pre-meds as well.

My D is a junior in the Honors program at UCF. She is also a Molecular Biology & Microbiology (M&M) Pre-Professional major who is beginning her medical school application process. I can say that we both feel that this track at UCF is a solid one. Your best bet, to get a feel for yourself, is to visit the UCF Honors, Burnett College of Biomedical Sciences, and their College Of Medicine websites. The Burnett College has now been integrated into the College of Medicine. The main focus of the M&M Pre-Professional major is pretty intense preparation for professional (i.e., medical, dental, etc.) schools.
