Thanks guys!

I have about a 4.2W/3.7UW (I calculated my core GPA a while ago and can't remember) and 27 ACT. I sent my horrible SAT, but they would have ignored that with my ACT. Plus the usual community service, job, clubs etc.

Jersey- This is my second acceptance. I heard from Florida Gulf Coast U last week.

Hi All
If someone was dual enrolled at UCF, do you think it is easy to switch to full time for 2010. They would already have ACT scores, etc. and transcripts. Did you all send in recommendations? Scored 32 junior year. AP Scholar with Distinction, etc.

Anyone belong to the Honors College at UCF? Did you hear at the same time?

Hey collegesgirl, iI dont know about about dual enrollment but I can help you with any questions about the Honors College. I can tell right away with a 32 ACT and being dual enrolled you should probably get in without problems. However you have to apply to the Honors College separately from applying to UCF. After I got accepted into UCF, they mailed me an information packed about the Honors College so I could apply if I was interested. I finally applied and sent in all the things it asked for and got accepted about 3 weeks later. If you want to speed things up though, you don't have to wait for them to mail you the Honors application after being accepted into UCF, you can ask for one and they will mail it to you ASAP.

After reading about your acceptances I'm getting really nervous an anxious!!! Well moreso than I already was ha

I had all my stuff in by July twentysomething for summer 2010 why don't I know yet!??!

Worried!

I have a 3.5 weighted and a 28 act and a 1930 sat...a 1270 combined reading and math. Agh!!

I wouldnt worry futureknight, while ur weighted GPA could be an eeentsy bit higher to be more competative, ur SAT score is great. It just takes time for them to process all the paperwork. Last year when I was accepted by FIU, several of my friends were worried because they had applied before me and hadnt gotten word in a while, but eventually they got in. It just takes a little time, but itll be worth waiting in the end when u find out u get to be a knight (:

Agh...I am getting really nervous about the UCF application process now. I've sent in my SAT scores (which they have receieved) and my application with the 2 essays in like the beginning of August, but my school has been problematic about sending out transcripts! I'm from NJ and I plan to send in transcripts the beginning of next week. Would they still consider me to UCF? And are recommendations required? Because I have asked teachers, but I think by the time I recieve them, UCF will have no choice but to reject me=( And do you think I'll get my acceptance/rejection by mid October if I send in the info next week? (Because I would love to know about it before I go on my trip abroad lol)

Here are my stats:

GPA: 4.04 W
SATs: 1st time: 1690 (520 CR, 510 M, 630 W)
2nd time: 1750 (620 CR, 540 M, 590 W)
Highest combined: 1790
I also took this past ACT and I hope I did well (English was my best, math was eh, and science was....interesting? lol)

I'm in the top 10% of my class and I have been involved with 3-4 different clubs this year
I wrote on my application I would complete 200 service hours at the hospital, but they didn't have hours suitable for my schedule in the school year so I ended up with about 174-180, so I'm going do something also interesting-tutoring for elementary kids =)

I'm Asian (dunno if that will help) and I have taken about 4 APs and mostly honors throughout high school (school doesn't offer many)

I'm hoping to enter as a health science major (pre-clinical track). Do you think UCF will reject me? Would I have a shot at any financial aid (grants or scholarships?)? (I know you guys aren't Adcoms, but an opinion would be greatly appreciated)

UCF is my top choice...good luck to everyone and congrats to those who got in =)

You're in..with no doubt. They take your highest combined SAT. Just get the transcripts there as soon as you can. The turn around time should be no more than 3 weeks once they receive them. As far as scholarships or grants..not sure. Although I believe you to be a strong candidate for that as well. Sit tight and Good Luck!

alongwait- Thank you soooooo much=) I really hope my counselors send them in ASAP and if UCF wants recs in the end, I could totally send them later. But thanks for the input and now I am soo anxious to send in my transcripts and find out their decision (more anxious than before, that is lol).

Love2laugh, dont worry too much about the recommendations. I was worried about them too last year so I emailed UCF and they told me that they prefer if you have them but they arent required. I got in without a single recommendation.

UCF offers the Pegasus scholarship which has 3 different levels. Unfortunately, I cant tell you the requirements and cutoffs for each one because UCF has very little info about it on their website. I received the Gold, which is the highest, and it pays me $10,000 over 4 years, aka $1250 a semester. However, I remember reading somewhere that the scholarships follow a different track if you're an out of state student (I'm in state). The out of state version of the Pegasus should offer more money, since obviously $1250 a semester is peanuts for someone paying the out of state tuition rate lol.

Unless you really really need financial aid, I dont think UCF themselves will give you too many grants (if any at all) but the government does. I have a few from the government. The amount of aid you get is based on your EFC, a number calculated later on in the year when you complete the FAFSA. Your EFC estimates more or less how much your parents should be able to pay for college based on what they earn and a few other factors. The lower your EFC, the more financial aid you receive. However, the same EFC will get you less aid at a public school like UCF versus lets say Harvard, Cornell, etc. because those schools are so rich that they also contribute to the financial aid. Public schools dont have the funds to do that, so most of the grants that students at public schools have are just from the government. But dont let this scare you, with just my scholarships and gov. aid I have enough to cover tuition and housing. I used money that we set aisde for college to pay for my books (which can be very expensive). Hope this helps!

Is it better to wait for Burnett to offer an application after acceptance to UCF, or should you just request the application right away? (Accepted for 2010 class!)

marlins97- Thanks for the information. Yeah, financial aid is what is worrying me most about the school. UCF is beautiful and fits all my needs, but if I don't get the proper financial aid, I doubt my parents will let me go. Because of the increased cost for out of staters, my parents even stopped me from applying to a UC (but that school system is WAY more expensive for out of staters). My family income is supposed to help me greatly with financial aid and I've heard that if you apply early at UCF, you get more merit aid, hopefully I will get something and if not, I hope the government will help me out. Hmm...I just hope everything works out or else I'll have to stay in my home state to save money before grad/med school. And about private institutions giving out much more aid...I know what you mean. However, the only private school I think I'm applying to is UMiami (reach) because USC is way to far for me lol. But anyway...Thanks =)

I just had to post this and say: I FINALLY sent in my transcripts this morning and now all I have to do is keep my fingers crossed! Good luck to all and I'll most likely keep you posted on what their decision is! (Meaning if you see me type capital letters or freaking out in my follow up posts, I probably got in...hopefully that happens haha =))

Well it has been exactly 3 weeks in just a few hours from now. I still have not heard anything from UCF except my application is just in progress. Should I be worried about this or contact admissions? I've seen some people get accepted in like a week and I have better stats then they do... no offense of course.
