Confused about application status

I was originally deferred from UCF fall term about 2 weeks ago, but i proceeded to email and call them viciously because I knew people with much worse grades and sat scores who got accepted. Finally, I checked my status today and it says

You will be offered admission and can choose to enroll in the summer term rather than the fall, and then continue enrollment in the fall term. If you do not select this option, you will be denied admission to UCF.
Please indicate your response below within 30 days. We reserve the right to cancel this offer if you do not respond, as summer enrollment is limited.

Does this mean that I have to enroll for the summer term? I can't start from the fall term like most students? And whats the difference? Why do I have to enroll in the summer term? Thanks.

UCF offers summer term enrollment as an alternative to fall; Penn State UP does this as well...BUT
Interesting since this appears as a "binding commitment" without ED....they are permitted to offer you summer enrollment acceptance, but according to NASCAC, May 1st is the date that students must commit to a non-binding decision....I would call and clear this up if I was you....quickly....this decision should not be binding.....you may want to "ask the dean" (Sally) on CC

Yes, you must enroll in the summer term if you want to go to UCF. They offer summer admission when you don't get in for the fall term, but are still a good student for the school. After the summer term, you will start in the fall with the rest of the freshman. Summer isn't that bad because FL requires you to do summer credits as it is.

Generally Freshmen accepted for summer start in late June. I'm not sure whether UCF calls it Summer B, but that's the second of the 2 6-week summer terms. The first summer session starts before most kids graduate from high school.

tzais is right, freshmen normally do Summer B. I dont think freshmen who come in for their first term as summer are allowed to do any other summer term except B.
