Help! -Psychology Program

Hi, I'm torn between UF and UCF. I recently visited both schools and am slightly favoring UF's campus. However, I'm planning on majoring in Psychology for my undergrad then going on to grad school for Social Psych research. I feel like UCF may be better in that regard, but I have no real concrete "proof" such as rankings or testimonials from undergrads. I know UF is a "public ivy" and their psych grad school is ranked in the top 50.

Basically what I'm asking is, does where you go for undergrad really matter? And also, if you are currently a psych major at UCF or taking psych classes, how are they? Do you feel like you are getting a good education? Are classes mind-numbingly easy? As much detail as possible please

Thank you

My daughter is a Psych/Anthro double major and absolutely LOVES the psych program. She's only a freshman but came in with 18 credits and is taking a level 3 psych class this semester. Its hard, and the advisor tried to talk her out of it, but she is doing awesome and its evident in the way she talks that the main psych professors are very good and VERY experienced. Lots of research and varied classes. She plans on going on for her PhD and had no intention of staying instate for for Masters... but now that she's gotten to know the psych dept, may very well continue on at UCF. For something to impress her takes ALOT! I've heard only good things on the psych dept (past the usual entry level courses) and was one of the main reasons UCF was her first choice school. She turned down UF, Miami and NYU to go to UCF for undergrad (of course mom wanted her to stay in FL for it anyway, she's only 17 and won't be 18 til summer.... so still 'young' to me)

Hope that helps. Go to the website.. you can actually get to some of the syllibi of profs from the college of sciences...and check out rate my professors.... Negy, Janowski, Brophy are 3 names brought up all the time. We also met the asst. Chair of the Dept and she was EXTREMELY helpful.

Good Luck! and ask away, i'll answer what i can.
