| Pierce is super close to gym and library, but I'm pretty sure you can't get a single as a first year (and the doubles are rather cozy). Maclean is all singles, and it's about four blocks from the gym, five from the library. Pierce has a reputation for being very social (partly due to the tiny rooms which force people into common spaces). Maclean, well, it doesn't have much of a repuation for anything (it's one of the lesser-known dorms).
A couple of notes -- roommates can be a very good thing (occassionally not, but more often than not it's a good experience). And you're going to get cold regardless of where you live (I'm really hoping you don't plan on going nowhere besides the library and the gym for 4-5 months). |

| I have to disagree... PierceŽs rooms are NOT cozy. They are incredibly small... I did my overnight there and it was claustrophobic. The one thing that does is virtually force the entire house to spend a lot of time in the lounge, so you get a lot of that community feeling... if you are looking for that, then its the place for you. But if privacy is your thing, IŽd suggest elsewhere.
Dorms like BJ, Breck, and Maclean will guarantee you singles as a first year... IŽd look at those. Out of those, since you have a problem with the cold, BJ is the closest... so IŽd look into it. |

| cozy = euphemism for unbelievably small (Though many people seem to live in Pierce happily). |

| Hey ------
I chose BJ, Snell-Hitchcock, and Breckinridge. I put BJ first because it has its own dining hall, looks really pretty, is relatively small, and is close to campus. I figured it would be nice to have a dorm with its own dining room if it's really cold out. Also, I definitely want to get a single. |

| oh dear..i'm probably in trouble then...as of now (i haven't sent in my form) my top choice is Broadview ... which spells trouble if the cold is so bad as to kill me before i eat all my meals. |

| The house that appeals most to me is Max P. I hear it's easy to get if you want it, so I'm not rushing anything. |

| I might be changing my mind to BJ. It's between BJ and Broadview right now. Another visit will decide. |

| guys, this I've heard from many MANY informed and independent sources: as far as sociability goes: Max P. Shoreland Pierce are the top 3. B-J is somewhat of a compromise between the eccentric dorms (S-H) and the social ones. Max's location, newness (which some don't like) and individual bathrooms make it the best dorm in my opinion. You can choose to study if you want (quiet if you close the door) or party it up as it is very close to the frats and is super social. |

| I picked BJ for those same reasons- I like the mix between eccentric and social, and I love the personal space thing of having a single, even if you have to share a bathroom. Plus, hello... Hogwarts. Snell and Max P were my 2nd and 3rd choices. |

| well, i really liked BJ, but a social life etc. are more important to me. I figure in future years, if I feel like switching BJ is one I'll def switch to (friendly to study with the law library right there too!). Plus, max you get your own bathrooms, a very nice plus. also, its located better than BJ, but BJ is def for me later on |

| gracello... amazing choices!!!
BJ gives you the nice architecture that Snell also has, the proximity of food that Max enjoys, and the privacy that you can't get anywhere else (if you want it - BJ does have doubles that you can request). Then it has things like BJO which no one else even comes close to having!!!! |
