will i be rescinded?

So yeah,
Libby wrote this endearing
"it's pretty hard to get your acceptance rescinded" note on the blog,

but i'm afraid that i've worked pretty hard at it.
there's two tests per quarter in statistics.
pulled an all nighter before one,
for the second night in a row...
freaked out on the test,
left one third blank,
got a 27%.
a 27.
a 27.
a 27.

My stats teacher couldn't be happier, he doesn't really appreciate my "i don't study but i do well on tests anyways" de facto state.

I'm afraid i'll end up with a D for the quarter, maybe worse, in which case i'd have a D for the semester.

what now?
(time to apply to foreign schools with June deadlines?)
Is there any way that I could convince Chicago they still made the right decision?

try to do your best to pull the grade up.
maybe you can ask for extra credit.
try to be nice to your teacher,
in any case you should...
speak with your GC,
i enjoy writing,
in patterns.
I do.
I do.
I do.

I just visited the University, and the admissions officer I spoke with said it is nearly impossible to get your admissions recinded; they just don't do it because you bombed a couple of tests. He assured me that the adcom well understands that we are second semester seniors trying to relax and simultaneously make one of the biggest decisions of our lives.

lorax,
you are my hero.
you really just took a big load off my back,
i was actually discussing today which state schools I could still apply to..
i REALLY think i decided on the right university (1. they don't care that i send an application 7 hours late ("dear libby, i am writing to let you know that i'm submitting this under pago pago time zone") 2. they take me in despite quite the uncomley gpa 3. they might even keep me with a gpa that went from uncomley to perfectly horrific)

life is good.

If I get no grade lower than a B- then is it safe to say my admissions will not be rescinded?

strange coincidence? I'm bombing statistics this semester. Everything else is still a lovely A (so far)...but not so great in the math department.
so that's ok? right?!

From the Class of 2009 Convocation Speech by Ted O'Neill:
Quote:
...Maybe you thought you got the wrong letter! Or, that we changed our decision – we found out that you didn’t study for your calculus placement exam, or read The Iliad, or memorize French idioms, or, that we really paid attention to your spring semester C- in AP Chemistry – that instead you went to the beach, de-tassled corn, or drank a root beer – things no University of Chicago student is supposed to do. But – we don’t make mistakes, and, stare decisus –the decision stands (for the next day or so, the Latin phase newscasters will take the most pleasure in saying), stare decisus, unless you really think those old judges didn’t know what they were doing – stare decisus – “you’re stuck” is the English translation.

Hehe. That was the convocation speech my year. There was a lot of relieved laughter.
