| I got into Chicago, and my parents love it, but I just think it's too hard so I'm not going to go. I'm about above average intelligence, I don't exactly have the highest IQ |

| An example of self-selection? However, the admit folks have a good idea of who can succeed at Chicago and who can't, if one is admitted there is a very good chance one can do the work. |

| "Chicago sucks"? Haha. I'm sorry, but that simply has to be one of the most absurd, ignorant statements I've seen posted on CC. |

| You could've just named this thread "Flam me, I'm ignorant!" if you wanted to get flamed so badly....
Although U.S. News is the last source I'd go to for basing my decision on which college I'd attend, the very fact that they put it on equal ground as Dartmouth and Columbia should indicate something. |

| Chicago's admissions is very unpredictable - probably one of the most unpredictable schools in the country. When I visited this past weekend for a tournament I met many students who were waitlisted at their state schools but got into Chicago. Still, they seemed like very smart kids so Chicago must be able to read between the lines. |

| Chicago is awesome. I'm lazy so I'm not sure I'd be able to handle the workload. My stats are ACT:35, Bio M:800, U.S History:800, MAth 2C:800. my gpa is a 92.5 at probably the best public school in the country maybe world. However, I don't think I would get in due to the essays. |

| SAT: CR:520 M:530 W:470
SAT IIs:Math 1: 560 Chem: 500
GPA: 2.9 UW, 3.0 W
Rank: 20/32
If this is true your essay must have been extraordinary.
what is this obsession over colleges anyway? You got in where you got in. You're the one who is supposed to meke the most out of your education no matter where you go. It seems the unwritten laws of society have once again taken a hold of young minds an have drven theirs to madness over a unnecessary mass preoccupance of where they attend. Just because these colleges are up to "society's standards" doesn't mean they are your standards, geez. |

| What is interesting about those 184 is Chicago does not recruit athletes the way some peer schools, such as stanford, do. |

| For kids going to UChicago, you folks sure are having trouble figuring out how to spot a troll...
Look at this other posts. Those stats are not real, nor are his claimed admissions. |

| I can't believe that I was actually this stressed a year and a half ago.
Don't worry kiddies, you'll be at college soon enough and it'll all work out!
