Sour grapes, eh?

JCostantinou, sorry to hear that you didn't get in, I hope you have fun in whatever 5hit school you get accepted to.

As for you, kkhatib07, I find it hard to believe that you got in with the following statistics:

SAT: CR:520 M:530 W:470
SAT IIs:Math 1: 560 Chem: 500
GPA: 2.9 UW, 3.0 W
Rank: 20/32

Being in the top 62.5% of your class with a 2.9 GPA is not very impressive and neither are you low SAT scores. Seeing that you are a mixed breed of Native American and Middle Eastern, you probably got in mainly due to affirmative action. Just be lucky UChicago practices it or else you would have had no chance getting in.

Sorry if I sound mean, you wanna unleash your inner fire on Chicago? I will unleash mine on you.

Frank, just because you are going to endure four years of hell, and troll pussy does not mean you have to be upset that I was accepted into Stanford, a far better institution than Chicago. I've had to undergo much more than you have in this country, so your attempt at a character attack, or lack thereof, is quite foolish. Am I not entitled to have my own opinion about Chicago? It sucks. Good Day Sire.

Sounds like you've got an ego problem, kkhatib07. Getting into Harvard and Stanford with those grades? Guess you're just some bitter kid who puts these jokes on for fun. We need a moderator to check his posts. I think about 5 of them are complete disruptive BS

UChicago, Stanford, and a lot of other schools practice affirmative action, but only up to a certain extent. They would never admit anyone with those statistics, period, because it shows that they apparently couldn't handle the work done at the respective school.

And of course, you are entitled to your opinion about UChicago. But if your opinion is expressed poorly and/or has no evidence, then your opinions won't be respected and they'll be attacked such as has happened on this thread.

But yeah, FYI, JCostantinou, it's my DREAM to spend four years in a library. But I'll take an hour off each year so I won't have to see the streakers.

FrankietheTank, I am sure you know that academic statistics can tell very little about a person's actual intelligence and worth. In addition, it is a historical fact that many minorities have been and continue to be discriminated against; why blame the University of Chicago for its flawed but genuine attempt at helping to reverse this?

But yea, this name-calling is kind of lame. I wish you both a happy time at whatever college you have chosen to attend.

butcherer, affirmative action aside, the statistics shown above are not up to Chicago or Stanford's level. Despite the inequality that exists today in America with ethnicities and education, those stats are not good enough period. What we are looking at are grades AND test scores. I believe alone any stat is worthless, but taking into account the attitude this kid has, and his average scores and grades, this kid is not Chicago or Stanford material. Prolly a troll

I definitely agree the kid is probably a troll, but I hesitate to judge a person's worth by those statistics. Many people doubt the value or existence of "holistic" college admissions, but I've seen them happen to worthy people who, because of family problems, poverty, etc., have grades/test scores that do no justice to their intelligence.

The University of Chicago is ranked in the top 10 in the nation...it rivals any ivy and it stands its own ground. I've recently found out I got accepted, and I've decided to go there. I'm going to have to defend my future school against your biased and unnecessary remarks because you couldn't get into the college and decide that you should try to drag the opinions of others around you to oppose the highly prestigious and selective school.

vutiful- Good choice!

I don't know, after seeing UChicago's library, I wouldn't mind living there! It is a great school, too bad not one for the masses to enjoy with its unconventional style...

If one reads Libby Pearson's posts one will see that the last two considerations in terms of importance are GPA followed by test scores. Curriculum attempted, essays, and recommendations are all more important.
