Have I screwed myself over?

I'm just about absolutely positive that the University of Chicago is where I want to go, due to the philosophy, the courses, and even the average level of intelligence of the students, however I have a pretty mediocre application due to lack of direction all throughout high school. It's rather hard to clean up a horrible track record after the summer of your sophomore year.

Here's the worst:
Overall GPA: 2.96 (weighted)
Overall class rank: 31%

However, if you consider just my last two semesters (as a junior):
Overall GPA: 4.1 (weighted)

Other stuff:
SAT:Reading: 800 Math: 720
ACT: 34
AP Physics: 5, Computer Science: 5, Language and Composition: 5

EC: Debate, Newspaper, WYSE Physics (state-wide test competition type thing, made it to state, didn't win), tutoring, lots of community service (I also started the school video game club, not sure if I want to mention that :P)

I'm white and from the Chicago suburbs.

The one part of my application that I actually am sure will impress them is my essay. I'm really banking on my essay being outstanding, I admit, however I have a fair amount of confidence in it.

Well, thanks for checking this out, I'm off to my interview, where I suppose I'll learn if I have a chance first hand .
