What would it have been like?

Just wondering how many of you guys are like me, still continue to read these discussions on schools you would have LOVED to go to but had to decline for whatever reason.
I wouldn't call it regret because I haven't begun attending the school I chose as of yet (im a '12). I for one picked another school over Chicago but I still come to this forum pretty often to read up on what's going on at UChicago, what the people who chose to attend are like and what it would have been like if I had been one of them, because I still seem to feel as a person very much a part of what UChicago is all about.

I still wonder about how my life would have been different if I had taken a different educational path - i think many people do. One way of thinking is that Chicago needs Chicago kids ... and other colleges do, too, maybe more so.

I'm sure people have told you to get enthusiastic about your choosen school - that's true enough, but sometime difficult to do. However, as fall approaches, it is going to get easier, and your path will become clearer. Best wishes!

My guess is Dartmouth, solely based on the "I am a '12."

I often ask myself "How would life be different if...." and I think that, at least in terms of college, your experiences would be similar, as college is exactly what you make of it.

I still come here even though I'm not sure if I'm even going to apply anymore (I really blew my junior year). UChi will probably always call to me, so as long as I still visit CC, i'll probably come by this forum.

Wow good guess unalove, yeah Dartmouth. I actually applied to Chicago EA and got deferred, and was really disheartened but i kept showing my interest for a while. I didn't even think i would get in RD so i sort of forgot about UChi when decisions time rolled around because they didnt send an email reminding us deferred people to check our decisions. I basically only found out after getting all my other decisions and so was pretty much set on deciding between other colleges. I think ill be that way until i actually reach college

Haha, I know a few defer/accepts who were admitted into other schools and sort of fell out of love with Chicago. I guess it's healthy for people to make their own decisions rather than feel like the fate of their life is up to an adcom.

Rather than go on another I-hate-admissions rant (I'm always up for those), I'll just congratulate you on your college acceptances. I have confidence that you'll find people you admire and love at Dartmouth-- FOUR of my childhood best friends currently attend. They would also love Chicago, as they would love almost any school in the country. It's good to remember that awesome people do exist outside of the U of C world!
