I don't think these help at all, but in case somebody does... Decision: WAITLISTED Stats:- SAT I (by section): 800M/730R/700W
- SAT IIs: 800 Math II, 790 Chem, 760 Bio M
- ACT: n/a

- Job/Work Experience: IT staffer for a summer, website editor with paper this past winter
- Essays (subject and responses): Street...picked a friend's basement where we hang out and do work often as a metaphorical stop on my 'road through high school'...corny but the essay was good.
- Teacher Recs: I know one was great, idk about the other - had to pick a teacher different than most schools to fill the SS/English requirement so took someone kind of on a whim from this year that i didn't know that great.
- Counselor Rec: no idea, probably good
- Applied on: 12/30 iirc
- Hook (if any): nope

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I wasn't expecting this so I'm super excited! Although now I have to face decisions, as I'm somewhat undecided about my major though I'm thinking about Computer Science which isn't that great at Chicago, but my other favorite Carnegie I was admitted to the school of computer science so I couldn't do anything else if I changed my mind. Ahh I'm such an indecisive person.

I'm too sad to post my stats.
See: My dad taught at UChicago, I am published there, I worked all summers in a neuroscience LAB there, I had an amazing recommendation from a neuroscience professor there who I worked for, and my stats were pretty decent.
Rejected. And it hurts. I don't know what else I could have done? Congrats to all who got accepted--you'll do great things.

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Congrats to those that did get in! For the rest of us, we'll just have to stick it out. I saw some amazing people get rejected/waitlisted, so it feels good to be in such great company. If you applied to other very selective schools, don't worry too much. Many students that get rejected from Chicago go on to the Ivy Leagues.

| Decision: WAITLISTED Stats:- SAT I (by section): 2210 (790 M, 760 CR, 660 W)
- SAT IIs: 800 Math II, 800 Chem, 800 Physics, 760 Lit
- ACT: 36
- APs: AP Chem 5, AP Physics 5
- GPA: 93/100 UW, 103/100 W
- Rank: 2/241
Subjective:- ECs listed on app: Independent study in physics that I designed and am taking this year. Every school band. Student theater. Rock band with my friends that got pretty big locally. FIRST Robotics.
- Essays (subject and responses): I did the particle accelerator essay and talked about smashing together my two loves... guitar and physics and getting super string theory :-D. And then I went on to talk about the similarities between the two such as how both music and science embody truth and beauty.
- Teacher Recs: One from my physics teacher that I'm very close to and do an independent study with. I forget which was the other one because I sent different ones to every school.
- Counselor Rec: The standard counselor rec.
- Applied on: The deadline :-D
- Hook (if any): none
Location/Person:- State or Country: Connecticut
- School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): Middle class suburban public school with nothing special. We send a student to a top school about once every 4-5 years.
- Ethnicity: White, Albanian Immigrant (but US Citizen)
- Gender: Male
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I'm kind of disappointed but not too upset. I probably won't be accepting the spot at the wait list since after getting accepted somewhere else, I probably wouldn't go to UChicago anyway so no point in accepting and lowering someone else's odds. I really do love Chicago's philosophy on education though. It stands for everything I value in education but I guess I didn't exemplify that in my application. (It might have also been because my interviewer kind of figured out that Chicago was not really my first choice LOL).

| Decision: REJECTED Stats:- SAT I (by section):2220 (720 CR, 780 M, 720 W) took once
- SAT IIs: 800 Chem, 800 Math II, 730 Bio
- ACT: N/A
- APs: Chem 5, taking five more this year
- IBs: N/A
- GPA: 95.1 out of 100 (UW); school does not calculate W gpa
- Rank: school does not rank; maybe top 10%
- Other stats: AMC12: 93 I think...
Subjective:- ECs listed on app: A cultural after-school program, volunteering program, swimming, tennis, a minor recreational club, reading (as a hobby...), breakdancing
- Job/Work Experience: cashier, about 1 year total
- Essays (subject and responses): Common App one was different/unique...was very risky. For Chicago's essay, I did the street essay...wasn't one of my best, but it was okay.
- Teacher Recs: Did not see, should be decent
- Counselor Rec: talked about a few of my EC's (only took a quick glance). I assume it was okay. My school's counselors writes like 100+ recs each, so she doesn't know anyone that well.
- Applied on: EA, got deferred
- Hook (if any): none; low-income, but since U Chicago is need-blind, they wouldn't know.
Location/Person:- State or Country: NY
- School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): top public
- Ethnicity: Asian
- Gender: Male
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Took a risk, probably my weird essay turned them off as well as my complete lack of awards (that section was blank) and my insignificant + lackluster ECs. Also, I sent in a rather amateur art portfolio, though I'm not majoring in the arts. Oh wells, it's just how it is. Tried my best. Good luck to everyone and congrats to those who were accepted.
