Hi. APril from China.
I think I am going to write about the "think playfully or play thoughtfully" one...Not started yet.
I am not sure which field I am going to study in UC, since I think I am more like a Penn student (practicality). I will also RD Wharton for I am clearly passionate about business. But I am EAing UC for I suppose it might be great if I can get around with everything before restricting myself in business...The critical inquiry is absolutely vital for a business person.
But sometimes I get really concerned about the non-vocational education UC gives. Is is true that anyone aspiring in business should not go to UC?

I'm from Jersey and I'm applying to UChicago EA!
And man, do I love UChicago. I'm thinking comparative lit/classics/linguistics/I'mnotreallysurebutthat'sokaywithme.
I'm thinking about how I've been caught, but alas, I've yet to come up with something playful that won't be hashed out in a thousand other essays. I'm waiting for epiphany. Perhaps I should find a fig tree to sit under.

I will, once more, pop my head in randomly to interrupt you all with an important announcement!
Kant: You have made me now crave fig newtons!
Thank you; that is all.

I absolutely loved the 'living the question' prompt. I miss it. |

I'm from Central New Jersey (right outside Trenton in fact), and I'm applying to University of Chicago EA (why else would I post here?). I want to study economics if I go to Chicago. I also just visited a few days ago, which reaffirmed my love of the school. Making good progress on Prompt #4 as of now (#1 is nice, but everybody's doing that one, so why not be unique?).

Howdy! I'm from Little Rock, Arkansas, and I hope to study English and maybe Philosophy at U of C. I'm also really interested in Doc Films and Fire Escape.
QuasiProfound: I know what you mean about the "living the question" prompt. I loved last year's essay questions and had lots of ideas for tackling them. I don't feel nearly as inspired by this year's set.
I might answer "living the question" for the "make-your-own" prompt.

But Little Rock...I learned about that in US history class! Haha..Awesome that people are applying from all over. I'm digging the diversity.

mm, after stalking the uncommon blog, they make it pretty apparent that they don't like it when people answer past years' prompts. I would advise against it, though I do agree with you that this year's set is less inspiring.
I heard darren aronofsky visited doc films once, when he previewed one of his movies early there. :squeal:

Yar, Kant is right. I had a good idea for a past prompt, but had to scrap it in favor of something for the recent prompts. Speaking of the ol' devil...I have to finish writing my essay soon D:

hey guys, I am from washington state (people often confuse it with D.C. when I just say im from 'washington') and will be applying Chicago EA. In terms of what i want to study, im thinking maybe economics/applied mathematics? But that is very likely to change...
For essays...ive been spewing out potential essays since about august. I had two drafts for the how did you get caught before throwing them both out with disgust. I am now doing the games prompt, but again, i am on the verge of just throwing it out and starting anew. I tend to be hyper-critical of my writing style...
That is awesome about Darren Aronofsky! I love all of his stuff, except the fountain (it just felt like too much metaphysical garbage for me...) I have heard somethings about Doc Film and i love the sound of it. It seems very Chicagoan in nature.
