where is the music supplement?

So I already turned in my EA application to the UChicago...but I just found out that it's also nice to send in a music supplement even if you're not going to major in Music. I called their office and they said it was okay for me to still turn in a music supplement even though the deadline has past. Their Music Dep. Website is being quite ambiguous...can anyone find where exactly the music supplemental materials are?? I can't find instructions anywhere...

thanks a ton!

I've heard it repeated over and over that you can no longer submit supplemental credentials for EA. You can ask anyway, though. (CommonApp has an arts supplement on the application itself, btw).

yeah...i have no idea how reliable the secretary at the admissions office was...she kinda just answered 'yes hun, just send it on in!" to everything i asked.... hmm maybe I will try calling the Music Dep. tomorrow. Do you know what the music supplement entails? I don't believe I can access the info on CommonApp anymore since I already submitted my app...gawd im so stupid, can't believe I made such a lame mistake.

to Motion: Are you just gonna try to turn it in anyways?

They said I could turn it in if I get deferred. However, I can't submit it for EA...so I'm actually hoping to not have to send it in lol, but I probably will in december.

Oh..that's super nice of them! So this is like our extra buffer if we need it, i like the sound of that. Thanks for the help! I am a lot less worried now :)

you can print out the music supplement form on commonapp.org
you will need a 10 min recording of 2 contrasting pieces, a music resume, and a letter of rec from a music instructor

Also, you should send your supplement to the admissions office, not to the music department itself- we have a contact that goes through everything for us and gives her professional opinion, but sending it to them directly is a pretty surefire way of making sure it goes lost :)
Print out the supplement form and send it in, no guarantees that it will be looked at for EA admission because the deadline has passed, but if we can make it work we'll have someone look at it for you!

Wait...does that mean I can still send in a writing portfolio through the mail as well?

Really: no. The deadline has passed to send in materials for EA applications- collage0fun had this OK'd, but I'd really discourage anyone else from trying to contact an admissions counselor at this point to submit anything- it's a hectic time in the office right now, and it is just much easier for us if you send in all of your credentials by the deadline we gave. If you're applying RD, however, feel free to send in those supplements with your application!

What the ****...I called your admissions office today and the person told me that all I had to do was email my regional counselor my writing portfolio and that she would attach it to my application. I submitted my application with only one really short supplemental essay attached because I thought that there was a limited number of material that could be submitted. Then my GC told me that I could have submitted a longer one...after the deadline was up. Then it turns out that the wrong version of my common application essay was uploaded, so I had to send the new version to my regional counselor and (hopefully) it replaced the older version on my application.

If I really thought it would be more representative of who I am as a student/person and a necessary part of my application, could I still send them in, or would they just get trashed?

motion12345, if you've already had this OK'd and have good reason to send new things in (which it looks like you totally do), send it in. I'm just trying to make sure people know that not is not the time to start to send in extra things close to the deadline without good reason (which is always a risk you take when you say "Absolutely, send it in!" over CC...). As always, if your regional counselor tells you you should do something, defer to that over my general CC announcements.

It was not my regional counselor though...it was the general admissions office that told me that. I contacted my regional counselor 4 hours ago, so I'm hoping for a response sometime tomorrow.
