----GPA- 3.83 W, probably ~3.6 UW (only will have taken like 3 or 4 APs when i graduate but more preAPs...

----SAT- 690 m 760 cr 740 w

----EC's- 4 year basketball(2 year letter), 4 year cross country(1 year letter) at a 5A school with 2600+ students, National Merit Qualifier(waiting to see if it is commended scholar or semifinalist, probably just commended) NHS, maybe 60+ hrs community service, worked on and off for 2 years at baskin robbins and refereed youth basketball, aau nationals basketball every summer, cerebrals society member (not sure if that even counts)


I would love to go to CU but it is pricey OOS so would i qualify for scholarship? How is their fin aid?

If you do some research on their website, you'll find that getting merit scholarships - especially big ones- is very difficult. I don't know anything about their FA.

Well my friend got a decent scholarship with an 1830 SAT, 11%ile, and OOS so that is why i was asking

What do you consider decent? If I may ask. Their admissions says for their big scholarship (I think it's chancellors) you need a 35/36 ACT and 4.0 grades.

My son is getting ready to start at CUBoulder in two weeks. He had an 1860 SAT and a 28 ACT with a 3.85 GPA and he was given a $55K Presidential Scholarship (we're from out of state). At the time, we were shocked but now we're just thankful!

He was accepted at four other schools and was also offered $55 from a fairly high ranked private University...but not one dime from the other three schools - go figure!

Great to hear Momathome! I've been repeatedly told that to get that scholarship you have to have a near perfect ACT - so very interesting. As you said - never hurts to try! (If you have the admission fee!)

My son has CU Boulder as his first choice. He has 1890 SAT, 31 ACT, 4.0 unweighted, probably 4.5 weighted. It sounds like, based on your son, he would get the presidential scholarship there for out of state students. Do you think so?

His stats look good - pretty similar to my son's although actually a bit higher. I guess the big unknown is who else applies and what their numbers look like. But, it is not a complicated application and if it's his first choice, what does it hurt to fill it out and see what happens?
