Housing question?

I'm sort of stuck. I got into the storrs campus and I will probably end up going to Uconn but I'm not 100% sure yet because Im waiting to hear from another school within the next couple of weeks and I'm getting cold feet about committing to Uconn. If i send in my $150 acceptance fee does that 100% commit me to going to uconn or does it just put my name on the list for housing? For example, If I pay the $150 but get in at my other school and decide to go there, do I just lose the 150 or is that committing me to uconn? I would want to live in Northwest if I go and i want to put my name in so I could get it but I'm scared of committing because im waiting for another school. what should i do?

You are free to change your mind, but you will lose the $150 if you decide to go elsewhere. How much time did UConn give you to send in the $150?

they gave me until the regular May 1st but I'm worried if I don't send it in soon, Northwest will fill up.

I would send in the $150... If you decide to go elsewhere the worst that could happen is that you're out $150.

I wouldn't want to lose $150!

I'd wait till I hear from the other one. In terms of getting the dorm you want, I can guarantee that one of two things will happen if you send the fee later and end up going to UConn:

1) you won't get the dorm you want but everything will work out and you'll end up perfectly happy or
2) you'll still get the dorm you want even though you waited a little extra time and obviously be satisfied in that sense.

As a UConn alum, there's no way I'd want to live in the Jungle (a/k/a North Campus). Send in the $150 so at least you can get into Northwest. (When I was there in the dark ages it was called the Frats with no fraternities in sight!)
