Hello,

I'm hoping to transfer into UConn for spring 2010. I'm a junior and my current GPA is 3.19
Do I have a shot at this? I really need to get in, since I can't afford my current university anymore

Honestly, I don't even remember the exact numbers, but they weren't so hot. I got like a 23 on ACT I think. Online they said I didn't need my scores, since I had over 2 years in college already/have more than 45 credits.

I'm a Connecticut resident, so would it be easier for me to apply to one of my branches then transfer up? or is it the same?

No, you apply to UConn storrs, and then if they think you need more preparational studies, they send you to the branch campus for later transfer to storrs. You CAN apply directly to a branch campus, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Have you completed general education requirements for UConn? What is your major GPA?

I think I've made all the requirements except for the "Diversity and Multiculturalism" area, since pretty much all of those courses have no real equivalent to what I've taken at my current school.

I've done this so far:
-4 language courses (2 Japanese, 1 Arabic, 1 German)
-2 philosophy (ethics and general)
-2 religion courses (Catholic theology)
-2 English courses (composition and literature)
-1 math course
-World history
-Public speaking
-Scientific inquiry
-Business management 1
-Sociology
-Psychology
-Intro to journalism
-Marketing 1
-"Discover New York" (a course on New York history. requirement for all incoming students at my current university)

I will be taking these fall semester:
-Intro to advertising
-Intro to media graphics
-Intro to public relations
-Communications management
-Japanese 3
-Screenplay writing

Here's my GPA info (credits listed count both completed and courses in progress):

Communication Arts major - 2.65 (21 credits)
Business Administration minor - 2.57 (12 credits)

Core for major - 3.30 (36 credits)
Liberal Arts for major - 2.85 (6 credits)
Free electives - 3.92 (12 credits)

I would say you are a splitter. Maybe, maybe not. I'm confused why you only have 45 credits after taking two years, though. The normal courseload would put you at 60 or more credits for two years. That is something you should be ready to explain.

I have 69 now and I'll have 87 at the end of this semester....

Oh, sorry. You said above that you had more than 45, so I assumed it was close to that. I would still say you are a splitter, but as long as you write a great essay, you have a good chance.
