Me: One AP, one honors, and one accelerated class (taking two AP's senior year)
Him: Same as me, including the two AP's this upcoming year

Extracurriculars
Me: Cofounded the political science club at my school, in a band that plays in my town at places, other things like intramural sports, and over 20 hours of community service.
Him: JV/Varsity baseball, in my band, rec basketball, orchestra, etc.

Me: Political Science
Him: I'm actually not sure but I'll ask him when I see him.

I would definitely recommend that he try to increase his SAT scores. But I would say that with a very good essay from each of you, you have a good chance.
