Your SAT scores somewhat offset your rank. Your GPA is average. I would say you are right on the line, perhaps a little lower. Write a very good essay, apply early, and it will perhaps bring you over the edge.

Youre in, It is so much easier to get in in-state than people realize. My middle class high school sent 40 kids to Uconn, and there were several 3.0s 1020-1050/1600

^ One example doesn't mean it is a universal guideline. That is, in fact, not the case at all. There must have been other factors that took part in your admission, as there are for everyone.

If actually found it to be the norm. Especially if you apply EA. Ive found that a 3.0 1200/1600 is pretty much a guarantee. In fact thats what our naviance says as well. I got a 1200/1600 on my sats and was probably in the top 20% of scores from my school. My friend lauren got in with a 3.0 1020. My friend mike with a 3.6 1020. My friend alexa with a 3.4 1100. There was probably out of the 40 or so kids that ended up there 20 of them with scores lower than a 1200. In -state it is not very competitive.

Two things:
1. Again, this is a small representative group, who have more than statistics behind their belts.
2. Admissions criteria have changed a lot in the past two years.

I realize that its a small group, but the trends have been similar from our school over the past 4 or so years. Im only a freshman in college, so those trends are from last year

Admissions will only become stricter. I don't know your specific circumstances, so I can't comment any more on this.

I applied on November 1 (early action), but my 1st quarter grades have been somewhat low
B in AP Econ
B+ in Physics
B- in Spanish 5
C+ in AP Stat
B- in Contemporary Lit
B+ in Earth Science
Is there anything I can do to increase my chances? UConn is my first choice right now.

If you have already applied, there is nothing you can do, besides continuing to improve your grades.

S applied early action, he's in-state, 3.8 gpa, sat 640R, 630M, 590W. He's taking 3 AP classes sr year, took ap chem. jr year, received a 4. Has done mission work, volunteered numerous hours at church, in marching band, jazz band. What do you think his chances are?

Good chance. Start a new thread for new topics, though.
