Chance me and I'll Chance You Back! (I promise)

Hey everybody! So i was just wondering if you guys could chance me for UConn.

-I'm a freshman at Loyola University in Maryland and I need to get out of here. I absolutely hate it! The school is way too small for my liking and 70% percent of the people here are from New York and New Jersey private Catholic schools. It just doesn't fit for me. So, I'm applying as first semester freshman to UConn. I'm also a CT resident.

-My high school GPA was 3.99. I was in the top 12 percent of my class. I think it was 68/604. I took 11 Honors Classes and 4 APs.

-My SATs were pretty weak. I think 1120 out of 1600.

- I had a strong amount of EC's.
- Varsity Golf Captain and 3 letters.
- Freshman and JV baseball
- National Honor Society
- Lots of volunteering.

-My college mid-term grades are A-, B+, B+, B and C+.
- I didn't include recommendation letters bc they wanted college professors and I didn't know them well enough at all to have them write recommendations for me.

So if you guys can give me some feedback that would be great and I'll definitely chance anybody who writes back!

Thanks a lot!

Why are you applying as a first semester freshman? Why aren't you transferring in?

Transfers aren't applying until the Spring. Your first semester grades are important. That being said, your high school grades are very good. Your college grades will offset your SAT score if you bring them up high enough. Get at least Bs in everything: no C+.

I'm sorry, so you want to transfer for second semester of your freshman year? The deadline for transferring in for next semester has already passed, so that is not possible. I would suggest staying an additional semester at your current school, and transferring for next year.

Umm well actually, i already applied for transfer to uconn. The deadline was october 1st and I'm assuming that i'll be finding out soon. I've posted other threads on cc but i didn't get any responses so that's why this is so late. But yes, i am a current freshman in college who is looking to transfer to the university of CT for the spring 2010 semester. I'm sorry about the confusion.

So you have already applied to transfer. Well, if you've already applied, you should be getting an answer relatively soon. Good luck!

Thank you very much! Well, the reason why I wanted to post this was that I was hoping that somebody could give me some insight into my chances. So if you get a chance, could you give me your thoughts? Thank you!

Is there anyway you can send in an updated grade if that C+ changes? It sticks out in a bad way. Otherwise, you are a good candidate.

Well, the thing about the c+ is that it's based on a few bad quiz grades that will be dropped at the end of the semester. My other grades in that class are good so it should be at least a B by the end of the semester, but for my midterm grades, they had to be counted. UConn does want final grades sent in so they should be able to see my improved grades at the end of the semester, but that might not do a lot if I don't get accepted. Thank you though! This has been an extremely big help!

I realize that the official grade won't change, but if you could get a short letter from your professor saying that either with that quiz your grade has improved to a ___ or that with it dropped your grade is a ___, and send that to admissions, it may better your chances.

i went to a public high school in CT. the math killed me on the SATs. i did well on the reading and the writing(which nobody really counts yet), but the math really killed me. that is my real GPA though.
