Hilton Newark Restaurants Gift Certificates

Since cc introduced us to priceline I thought I would share some information just incase you were not aware. I know many UD parents are staying in the Hilton, Newark/Christiana and wanted to let you know that there is a website called Restaurant.com where you can get $25.00 gift certificates for the restaurants at the Hilton. Now and until 8/24 the coupons which are normally $10.00 are 70% off ($3.00) for a $25.00 certificate. They have them for both of the restaurants in the Hilton and sell them until their alotment is sold out. We get these certificates often (especially when we travel) and they are great. Please let me know if you have any questions but this is truly a great website (no scam at all).

Be aware these are NOT gift certificates. They are best described as high value coupons. Best case the $25 coupons require a $35 purchase, and some have much higher requirements AND there are often date restrictions. Not a bad deal but not what you think of when you hear gift certificate.

Are the Hilton restaurants actually worth eating at for reasons other than convenience? There are actually some pretty decent restaurants in the Newark area. I think we will eat at Ali Baba (Middle Eastern restaurant) next Thursday, and the Fair Hill Inn in Elkton, MD on Friday (they seem to be one of the best places in the general area). I will admit I noticed the Hilton had wings on the menu at one of the places and I considered getting some on our last stay.

I was able to get the Hilton for $41 on PL for Thursday and Friday, BTW.

You are absolutely right. There are restrictions but for $2.00 (I got them when they were 80% off) I like to have them. I got one for each of the restaurants and I figured if we were tired and just wanted to stay in the hotel I would at least have $25.00 off. The terms for both restaurants are $25.00 off with a purchase of $35.00, dine in only, so basically if we decided to hang out at the hotel and have wings (now you got that in my head) and burgers we would pay $10.00 (if the bill was $35.00 plus the tip). I just like to have them, just in case... BTW, you did good on priceline! We paid $45 a night. Thursday is right around the corner...

The $25 coupons are not that bad. The $50 coupons are a problem since they require a $100 purchase. You also need to add tax and tip, which fortunately is not as expensive in Delaware thanks to no sales tax.

Everyone seems to have picked up on my $45 bid for Parents Weekend and been using that. I paid $39 when we were there in July.

Discount now up to 80% - the code is TASTE. It seems like you can also use it for breakfast (menu is on the restaurant.com website), which is an interesting idea if you have enough people to get up to $35 (they seem to have a buffet for $14.95, add $5.05 of menu items or beverages not on the buffet and you're set).

Thanks lucky and blue I used your certificate and had a great dinner at the hilton with a nice family who also had the certificate, the waiter took both and we saved 50$. It was a high value after all.

For $20 plus the $2 fee we fed ourselves, DD and her roommate. Just soups/sandwiches but it was a great deal. No problem at all with the certificate and the food was great. Thanks for the info!

we too ate at the Brasserie and used the certificate. it was great. husband got the prix fixe dinner, I had a salad w/chicken, d had a salad w/chicken, s had chicken wings and we were with another UD family. for each family (with drinks) we each spent less than 40.00 (gratuity included), also no issues whatsoever. I am so glad we were all able to use them. they are a great deal. I will keep checking to see if they add any other newark restaurants. The best deal though was that priceline deal. what a great hotel for $45.00. unbelievable.

Yes, the Hilton is great for that price. I was wondering if they'd take the restaurant.com coupon with the $29.95 price fixed, that was a great deal (although the PF menu did not appeal to me). We had dinner on Friday night at Domaine Hudson, a really nice place in downtown Wilmington. We enjoyed it so much that we made reservations for the Saturday night of parents weekend, which it will be "Dine Out Delware" (their Restaurant Week) and they will have a 3 course dinner for $30.

We were going to eat at Ali Baba on Thursday night, but we were at the Hillel reception and they had all that food and my wife and I decided to just eat that for dinner. We then found this cool ice cream place, Woodside Farms, out in the middle of nowhere, and had some really great ice cream.

BTW we should figure out somewhere to meet next time. I was probably in the same room as some of you at the Hillel thing and had no idea who anyone was :-(.

It's now back to 80% until day's end. The code is "CHEF". It seems to fluctuate every few days.
