I registered an emergency contact information yesterday.

today I got an SMS from SMS@blackboard.com, which said
(copied as it appears on my cell)

UF Alert: You are now
confirmed to receive alerts. No
reply needed at this time

Does anyone here know how to prevent them from SMSing me in the future? I don't have SMS, only standard texting.

umm i'm pretty sure it's a regular text message, it's just sent from a system in case of emergencies, I've rarely received them but when I do i'm never charged or anything. If you don't want to get them you could take your cell off the emergency contact.
