Applied Physiology and Kinesiology Online

I am a transfer from a Florida community college and applied for Fall 2012 in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology online.

Does anyone have an experience with this particular program?

In your opinion, does an online degree seem less significant than an on-campus degree? All of these classes are taught by the same teachers that teach on campus. And you are still able to participate in University activities.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey Melissa, I am transferring into this program in the spring (2013). I have been wondering the same thing about the program. How do you like it so far? Any suggestions for me?

Thanks in advance, Andrea

I absolutely love it. I thought that maybe it would be a little easier than on-campus classes, but they are NOT. Not that they are super hard or anything, but they do make you work for your grade. The teachers record their lectures and you watch them like you are in a regular class. All of the teachers are easily accessible for any questions through email, Skype and phone. The tests are proctored through ProctorU, which uses your webcam to watch you take your test. That takes a little getting used to, because it feels weird.

You are able to participate in ALL University activities. There is even a specific honor society just for APK members, called Phi Epsilon Kappa. They are very active and hold meetings about every two weeks. I'm a member and it is really fun, especially since you can meet the people that are taking all of the same classes as you on campus.

Also, there will never be any indication on your transcript or diploma that you took these classes online. Which I was a little worried about, but am so happy it is not. You are also able to take other classes on campus, just not anything that is major specific. Like next semester, I am taking Physics and this one-credit Fruit for Fun and Profit class on campus, and the rest of my classes online.

Do you have any other questions? It's a really great program and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Great! I think I will love it also. They haven't contacted me yet for a campus tour. Is that something that you do right before the semester starts do you know? I may have questions when it comes time to picking my schedule. Is it cool if I ask you about that?

Thanks again, Andrea

I'd be more than happy to help you with any questions you have! You can take a campus tour whenever you want to, just call them up.

Hey ohboymelissa, I am starting my first semester in this program. I have:
APK 3200 Evangelos Christou
APK 3400 Chris Janelle
APK 3405 Derek Mann
HSC 3102 Don Chaney
APK 4112 Peter Adhihetty
Have you had any of these classes/professors yet?
I'm just wondering if I need to purchase the book, or is the power points and lectures sufficient enough?
Thanks, Andrea
