I was wondering.......Does anyone think it would be too much to take on both CHM2045 w/Lab
and PHY2048 w/Lab for my entering fall semester?

I've done well in the science classes in high school, although I did find AP Physics B challenging to some degree. The only other course I would take would be COP3504~ an advanced Intro Programming class for CISE Majors. My Major is Computer Engineering

Just know that you will be charged 15 credit hours in the fall no matter how many credits you take. So, if you are taking 12 credits, you will be paying for 3 credits out of pocket with no help from Bright Futures. I don't think a lot of people know that UF is charging block tuition starting this fall. If someone takes 18 credits, they are still charged for 15 credits.

^ REALLY? With all the hours and hours of crap they had us sit through during Preview (including academic & financial presentations) funny how they didn't mention this once. That really stinks, especially since the advisors deter the freshman from taking more than 12 credit hours to start!!

When I googled "UF Block Tuition Fact Sheet", I was able to locate information stating it was starting Fall of 2012. I agree with the previous post: it was not talked about at Preview and they did encourage the incoming freshmen to take 12 credits. I know it had been previously delayed in 2011. I am only going by what I pulled up on the computer. If anyone has more info please let us know. I will be calling UF tomorrow to ask that question and will post once I receive the answer. IF they are going to block tuition as I found online, that really does stink if they are telling the freshmen to take 12 credits.

it was indefinitely postponed. there would be more noise if they were implementing it this fall. of course, there is still more than a month left before classes start.

Does anyone know how much tuition is for 2012 - 2013? My daughter is starting in the fall. Or how much is each course/credit? Is it about $135 per credit? What does it mean per credit hours?

Credit and credit hour are synonymous.

Average undergraduate tuition for in-state students for 2012-2013 is $6,170, based on a course load of 30 credit hours (15 per semester, which is about 5 classes, a fairly normal load). That works out to about $205 per credit hour, but that includes the additional fees and other expenses (health fee, lab fees, etc). Out of state tuition is $12,590 for the same course load, or about $419 per credit hour.

Those numbers will vary a little based on how many credits your daughter is taking and what fees, if any, are associated with her classes.

Propwash, I think you are not reading the chart correctly. Out of state tuition and fees in an additional $22,000 more than the instate $6100. It is closer to $940 per credit, while instate is about $202.00.

My son is a freshman and my out of state cousin is also a freshman and they are paying approximately $33000 for tuition, fees and housing.

Good luck, even at the rate uf is a great school
