Apartments in walking distance from campus

Are there any good apartments that are in walking distance (about 15 minutes or so) from campus (the side of campus with the chemistry buildings, carleton auditorium, broward hall, reitz union) not the part of campus by the Southwest Rec Center? If you don't know of any good ones, which are some to avoid and why? Thanks for the help.

There are Jefferson 2nd Ave and University House in walking distance. D lives at J2A and likes it there . Nice not having to rely on bus or bike to campus.

Trimark properties have a lot of apartments within two blocks of campus. You will read mixed reviews about all of them but I will say that you cannot beat the location. My daughter has lived in one for two years and has been very happy there. The apt is clean and safe.

Policy for freshman on campus

Hey, Guys, do freshmen have to live on campus for fall 2010. I have conflicting info on this point. Also, how do the rates of these apartments compare to the dorms, or say, Lakeside? How early to you have to jump on one of these apartments to secure on for fall? We live in Tuscaloosa and thanks to their super growth, apartment hunting and apartment prices, down close to campus anyway, are brutal. Thanks for your help.

Bikedad.

Freshman do not have to live on campus. As a matter of fact there is no where near enough room for all freshman in UF dorms. As soon as a student is accepted to UF and pays the tuition deposit your mailbox will be flooded with apartment offers - 2 or 3 a day for months. Apartment prices are very competitive with dorm prices. Shop around and do a search of this forum for opinions on the best locations and prices. My freshman son is currently living in a permanent triple and will probably be living at his frat house next year. After that he'll be moving off campus.
