fall 2010 accounting

I want to apply to the Fisher School of accounting, for fall 2010. I will be coming with an AA from a Florida CC. The Fisher school deadline is June 1st and i read they will not accept anyone until ALL the preprof's are posted to my transcript. This wont be until end of may because i will go to summer session to finish my AA. I am wondering if it is advantageous to apply to a different major in the Warrington College of Business NOW since they will accept applications as long as 4 pre prof's are complete. I could transfer to accounting later. I have all preprof's complete except calc I and II. I have a 4.0 pre professional GPA so far and a 3.8 overall. Any thoughts? Thanks

no, don't do this.

BTW maybe i am not understanding your question...BUT you are fair to apply as long as you have all your courses completed BY THE TIME you enter UF.

you can apply for fall if you plan to complete all courses by the end of summer b.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO complete all pre-prof by the application deadline.

when I was accepted to my college at uf, they put "congrats..blah blah blah" and on the bottom it says admission pending on completion of so-and-so courses with B or better.

you just have to make sure you have them completed being attending UF, and since you are only missing math classes and not any core accounting courses, you are in very good shape...i bet you will be admitted.

(you will send a transcript by the deadline + a list of all upcoming classes in the summer, then you will have a hold on your admission awaiting final transcripts...but you will LIKELY be 'conditionally' admitted before this hold clears)

Thanks for the help but this directly contradicts what they sent me in an email, "You should not apply to the program until all of the 6 pre-professional courses are completed and the grades have posted to your transcript". Not much room for misinterpretation.

are you sure you need calculus 2? have you taken stats1?

but yes, what you initially suggested about going to UF under a different major is allowed...but what i was implying was that i don't think it would be necessary.

I'm not too sure about how transfers work, but I would say try applying to another business college, because once you are at UF it's pretty easy to switch majors.

Also, I would recommend that you be very sure before it's too late that this is what you want to do. I'm in my 5th year of the 3/2 in accounting now and if I could go back in time I would have done a different major. Your next 2 years will be very very difficult, many of the people that you meet in your first class will not make it to the end, and you will spend the majority of your time studying while your friends in other majors party.

My life is easy now because it's the 5th year, but I want to be sure that you know that the junior and senior years are very hard. good luck

Senior at Fisher School

I am a senior at the Fisher School and I agree 100% with GatorAccountant. I am a transfer from a Community College in South Florida. I had to jump through many hoops to get into UF. Your best option is to call your admissions officer. Usually he or she can provide you with the best information and a solid plan on what needs to be done. Feel free to email me. gatoraccountant28 at gmail
