Russell or Creswell?

Well, I've found a roommate, but now we've got to decide on a dorm! We want to be in a freshman dorm, but want to make a good choice on which ones to go to. Ads and disads of each please! We've thought about Russell or Creswell, but if you have any other suggestions, they're most welcome!

well Russell is newer and a bit nicer but Creswell is closer to the stadium, bolton dining hall, slc, and the university center center.

I lived in Creswell my freshman year (1979). No air conditioning then, but it was coed by floor (a big deal back then). Russell Hall was all guys -- The Zoo. I was an RA in Brumby (all girls) for two years after that.

Creswell is right next to Bolton (one of the cafeterias) and you won't have to climb as far up the hill after class. It's a bit closer to the main part of campus -- but all three of the big high rises are on the same hill, Creswell is just towards the bottom (a good thing).

Reed tended to be upperclassmen, and the rooms are a bit bigger. Not quite so much partying.

I would say "NOT BRUMBY!" unless you're in a sorority or you like that type of all-girls environment.
I know people who love Creswell, but I think the room's are a bit smaller than Russell. Not sure about that though. Just by talking to people in the Freshman high-rises though, I'd say the general consensus is that Russell is the best. In my opinion, out of all the dorms possible for Freshmen to live in, O-House is hands-down the best. But maybe it's just because I love it so much. Affordable, near its own dining hall (the second best, next to ECV, in my opinion) and no community bathrooms. If you like lots of activity though, choose a high-rise. O-House is kind of quiet because there are upper-classmen who are over the wild freshman, newly independent stage

ECV is very nice, but expensive. It's a better location for the science and ag. students who stay on south campus and those interested in athletics since it's very close to the Ramsey Center and the intramural fields.

As a current resident of Creswell, I think that it depends on what you want. Russell and Creswell are pretty similar but Russell is newer and has slightly bigger rooms and I guess nicer bathrooms. Creswell is older and probably uglier. Both dorms have rooms set up exactly the same. There are a few perks at creswell that make me glad I selected that dorm. First, c-well has air conditioning units in every room. Russell I think has central air or something and residents cannot control it. This means the rooms are hotter for the most part. Creswell and Brumby have adjustable beds so you don't have to go out and buy a loft. Russell does not have these and you will not only have to buy one but also have to dispose of it 2 weeks early because they want you to get rid of it before people start studying for finals. That is a hassle, while I only have to lower my bed and do not have to worry about disposing of it.

creswell is more fun. every year. russell's kinda lame. plus russell is up the hill. the hill sucks because when you get lazy your like, ****, i gotta walk up this hill.

russell is newer though and has guys and girls on the same hall. but trust me, creswell is much much better
