Moving in late?

I've got a question about moving in. My parents both work and neither wants to take a day off, so because move-in is on a Thursday they say they'll help me come up after they get off work. Typically, this is around 5:30 to 6:00 PM--and adding in a 80-minute drive to campus without traffic, I'd be arriving on campus to start moving in at (at best!) about 7:00 PM. Is this too late to move in? Will the dorms be closing up by then for the night? Will there be huge lines about then?

Don't hold me to any of my information on this, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. They won't close up moving in (or they shouldn't at least). You probably could move in the middle of the night. The biggest rush is when it first opens. There probably is another rush at the time you'll be getting there, though, for the people that are in the same situation as you are. Just be very organized about moving in. Pack everything in kind of a backwards order, so the last thing you pack is the first thing you want to take out.

Where are you living next year? If it's a dorm I'm familiar with, I could probably give you better information.

by the way...if you're interested in a microwave and a fridge, let me know! I'm still trying to sell mine.

Thanks for the info! I'll be in Myers. Don't need a fridge right now or a microwave, but thanks for the tip there as well.

jenmarie, what kinda fridge ya have and how much? If you've lived in Creswell or Russell, is it possible to loft the bed up and stick a desk under it. I wanna bring my desk in so bad because the built in desk in Creswell is ridiculously small. My Macbook and cinema display won't even fit

It depends how big the desk is. i actually thought about doing that, but i decided to put other things under my bed. check the housing website for room/bed dimensions. but i'm sure you could do it.

Are we allowed to move in after August 14th? I'm thinking of moving in on Saturday August 16th.

I would call beforehand because if they have any sort of quiet hours going at the start of the year they might not let you move in after a certain time.

Well, I got my parents to take the day off, so it's not going to be a problem after all. I just didn't post to say so since I figured the post had died.

I was supposed to move in today, but my family got into a car accident. I'm going to be moving in tomorrow... are there going to be any problems because of the late move in or anything else I should be aware of?

No, you should be fine. And you missed the big rush, so you might have an easier time moving in. I hope everything's alright with your family!!
