Transfer with a 2.43 GPA?

Hello everyone,
First off I want to say thank you for taking the time to open up this thread. Honestly and truly I don't know where to start other then to tell my story. I just finished with my associates (Business Administration) from Georgia Perimeter College this summer. My final GPA is a 2.43 which I am well aware does not meet the 2.5 minimum. I was curious if anyone had any suggestions or insight on what a person in my situation would do.
I was trying to transfer to UGA and start in January but after this dilemma I have to sit down and rethink things. I understand my GPA is below the standard and is because of my own fault. I attended GPC and my first year and a half I did not take school seriously. All I cared about was going out with friends and enjoying Atlanta since I grew up in a small town. Now I have grown more mature and have tried my best to bring my grades to an acceptable level. Unfortunately I did not achieve that goal. The last three semesters, including this summer, was the first time that I did not receive a C or F on my final grades. I am now focused and want to do well in school. So the question is... is it even possible?
I was told I should get letters of recommendations and that could possibly help. I have my employer, a Auburn Alumni, whom has employed me for two years, and a UGA Alumni that owns a prestigious art gallery, agree to write me a letter of recommendation. So what do you think? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. I apologized if my post is not well organized but I just really don't know how else to categorize my thoughts right now. If there is any other information you need please feel free to ask.

You may have a chance since you have received your associates degree. If you had less than 60 credits, I'd assume you'd have no chance of getting in (I was surprised that my 3.6 got me in so easily partly because of the fact that they have no essays required for application there). As a student with more than 60 credits, even though your GPA is below the stated minimum, you may be able to get in. I would assume your chances are better than others that may have below the standard GPA as you are also an instate resident. I can only suggest that you just send your app in ASAP (especially for spring, the deadline is September 15th I believe) and send in any extra credentials you feel you should whether it be a resume, recommendation letters, or whatever else (I would suggest a rec. from a teacher or advisor from your school also).

Good luck! Also, part of the acceptance issue with spring semester is the open space they have in your wanted major, so if you get rejected for spring, they may be able to accept you come fall (I just sent in my re-application today for spring and hoping space is still available, especially as an out-of-stater.) I'm in the same boat with applying after my associates so I'm hoping it all goes as planned.
