Question about Unifieds for Hartt- for those of you who have already auditioned

The Hartt School website says "Applicants need to prepare each song in its entirety from memory but should be prepared to sing only 16 or 32 bars if so requested." I was just wondering if they made you do the whole song or did you end up doing it with the cuts?

Just wondering...

Hey, freedom_fri --

I auditioned for Hartt at NYC Unifieds this spring and was accepted, and I only did 16 bars of my ballad and 32 of my uptempo.

Also, Hartt doesn't have a dance audition at Unifieds -- if you're accepted and attend they do placements once you get there.

Dance Auditions Will Be Held At Unified Auditions

Hartt did not offer dance auditions last year at the Unified auditions, however, all musical theatre applicants will participate in a dance audition this year. Hartt’s faculty will look for your ability to take direction, how well you move, and how quickly to can pick up a routine. The dance auditions are considered in the decision making process, but vocal ability and acting ability are measured above dancing ability. Hartt Musical Theatre majors take two years of ballet and three of tap and jazz.

Please feel encouraged to contact me with any questions you may have about Hartt at 860.768.4148.

Schedule time

Hartt Admissions-University of Hartford app has to be complete to schedule audtions, correct? How much time is slotted for individual audtions at unifieds?
I noticed you will be including a group dance audition this year.

LA Unified Audition for Hartt

My daughter auditioned for Hartt today at the LA Unifieds. Here's a quick run-down:

They had the entire group do the dance portion first, which took about 40 minutes. Then they each had their individual auditions, which seemed to last about 7-8 minutes. My daughter did her monologue first (one monologue only) and then sang 32 bars of each of her two songs. Finally, they had her do some music sight-reading. One of the adjudicators sang parts of it along with her, then would drop out to see how she could continue reading the line.

She said that she thought the people running the audition were extremely nice, some of the nicest she's encountered in all her audition experiences! They made her feel really comfortable, and it increased her interest in attending Hartt.

When I auditioned at Hartt at the Chicago Unifieds they didn't have us do a dance audition. I think things got screwed up with the rooms because they had a conference at the hotel when I arrived about 2 days before the actual Unified auditions took place...weended up auditioning in hotel rooms.
