| If my D does not get her slow butt home from school to check the mailbox I'm sending her letter to one of you - LizMT or SingerNLmusic - only if it is an acceptance. |

| This goes back to admits for academic year 2002, but son's Hartt (instrumental performance) acceptance was a letter, not the "fat envelope".
I believe the fat one came from U/Hartford, a day or three latter.
This may have changed since then. |

| Violadad - Did your son attend Hartt? I am assuming he majored in the Viola. If so, did he like it?
I'm dying to hear for my D. These auditions were just grueling for her and has really broken her creative spirit and energy. |

| Last year the good news came in a letter size envelope with scholarship note (not big/"fat").
Hope that helps.
GOOD LUCK-hang in there! |

| karenteic- Yes, son matriculated as viola performance/music ed 5 year double major program, did 4 1/2 years and decided to drop the ed portion to concentrate on his first love, performance.
He had a great experience, with great peers, instructors, and faculty. He found the atmosphere cogenial, cooperative and supportive. If you search my posts, you'll find a number of my comments about Hartt/UHartford in general and some of his specific experiences.
Good luck to all. |

| Thanks everyone for your good thoughts and advice. We are still waiting to hear. I emailed the admissions office again and my husband called, but they won't budge in telling us anything which is probably not a good sign. I would think they would be more forthcoming if it was good news.
I was thinking of playing some reverse psychology and thanking them for the acceptance - since the original email I sent was entitled "acceptance letter" and they replied it was sent out on Friday and see if they responded to that. But we had already received an acceptance letter earlier in the year from them, even before my D had auditioned, and then they retracted - so that might freak them out.
I'm assuming we will find out someday before September.
I am hoping by Friday we will have something determined. We are still waiting on three BFAs in addition to Hartt. If she can just get one - it would be huge. Any news from anyone else? |

| Email from Hartt karenteic - My D hasn't received anything in the mail from Hartt yet, and we're west-coasters. We live in such a tiny area that it seems to take 5 days for mail to get to us from the East Coast, so we always seem to be the last to hear anything!
Anyway, she did get an interesting email from Hartt yesterday. It started out with "As you begin the final process of choosing among the colleges to which you have been admitted, I want to give you information that will help you learn more about the University of Hartford and what it is like to be a student here. If you decide to enroll at Hartford this fall you will have the choice of several exciting housing options" etc etc etc.
Now, we can't tell if that means she was simply accepted academically to the University, or if it might indicate an acceptance to the Hartt School in MT. We're assuming it is implying that she was academically accepted to the University until we hear anything different.
Anyone else get that email? And if so, have you received an acceptance to the school or to Hartt MT as well? It may be awhile before we get the snail mail rejection or acceptance -- it seems like the post office only uses the Pony Express to our house! |

| tiffw -- I got that email (or one similar) last year after I was accepted to Hartt. But, of course, that would also mean I was academically accepted to the University, so I can't give you any more info, I'm sorry! |

| I just got an e-mail saying my letter was mailed today, so I should be receiving it by the beginning of next week. Should I be expecting the worst yet? |

| tiffw - (last yr. 2007)
My D did not receive that email even though she received the acceptance letter, HOWEVER, her friend DID receive that email (l wk.) PRIOR to her acceptance to 'Acting' letter. Her mom called Hartt to verify acceptance (while receiving only the email). Perhaps if you don't hear anything 2morrow, call them (?).
GOOD LUCK - waiting is so painful I feel for you all. |

| tiffw - You are lucky you received that email. I asked them today if they could send my D an email since we haven't heard anything and they never responded so not a good sign for us. But definitely for you - sounds like great news!
We kind of went up the rollercoaster at the beginning of the week and are back down now with little response from them. Its tough for my D because she really struggled with math in high school and her grades aren't really adding to her chances at these schools. This is one where she was definitely in the range - gradewise.
I shouldn't feel too bad because she was accepted into Penn State Creative Writing program as a second choice to MT. So she is in somewhere - but she really wanted MT. |
