Chances for Class of 2014

Hi guys. I'm a current student (Class of 2011,) but I was wondering what others thought of my brother's chances of being accepted next year for Class of 2014.

GPA: 3.2 UW 3.9W
VERY competitive high school, one of top public schools in Illinois

ACT: 30

Courses: Mid-level classes, taking 1 AP next year
Extracurriculars: Helped solicit and design skate park in our town, otherwise minimal involvement, very passionate about skateboarding

Extra Info: Learning disabled and made huge strides/improvements throughout his school career, will write an essay on this

Major: Actuarial Science (LAS)

Thoughts?? Thanks!

50-50?

3.2 is a bit low. 30 is right on.

The 30 will help him out a bit, but the 3.2 and 1 AP courseload is a bit weak. However, if he plays up his passion for the skating and his learning improvements he has a solid chance of getting in. I know people with similar courseloads and ACTs that got in, but I don't know many people with that low of a GPA. The fact that he's applying to LAS will definitely help. Ultimately, I think the key will be to apply early. If he does this, I think he has a good shot of getting in.
