Need some money

Hi guys
I have a 1600 SAT score, 35 ACT, National Merit Finalist, Leadership roles, 3.8 GPA. Out of state. Illinois didn't give me any money. Can I fix that and how?

1600 out of 1600 or 2400? Seems kinda of strange that you did not recieve the $12,000 OOS scholarship, unless you applied very late and they had already handed all of the scholarships out.

I applied in November... or was this a separate scholarship I had to apply for? Because if so I was never told about it. All I have is an "International Engineering" Scholarship application that I still need to write an essay for. What's left? Can't I get any merit aid?

    And yeah 1600/1600 not 1600/2400.

If you are international, then that is probably the reason. The $12,000 scholarship did not require a separate application, your application for admission was used. Most likely, you cannot recieve any financial aid besides the various scholarships such as the "International Engineering" scholarship which you apply to with a separate application. However, I am not sure on this entirely, perhaps contact Illinois.

I'm not international, in fact you have to be a U.S. Citizen to apply for the International engineering scholarship. It's a scholarship for foreign study.

Is there nothing else I can do? I'm visiting there, would paying a visit to their Office of Admissions be any help? I want to go to UIUC but can't afford it Out of State. Not to sound presumptuous but it seems really odd to me that I haven't gotten any money at all from them... like how much more could I have done.

Short answer: Yes. You may not get any more aid, but at least you'll have a definitive answer to your question. You need to see reps at both Admissions and Financial Aid, and ask.

Definitely ask about the "University Achievement Scholarship" ($12,000) because that's only for out of state kids...

    good luck :/
