You guys were hit pretty hard from what your webpage says, and I'm not sure I'm eager to swim laps to my freshman classes, even at a really outstanding college like UI. Soo... Flood damage in buildings? Or did you come through okay?

There is the info from their website. There is a list of closed building on that page, but it doesn't have projected reopen dates. I know Mayflower will open. And I would think the Memerial Union would open. I heard something about moving the art building.

I was in Iowa City over this past weekend and, save for a few remaining sandbag piles here and there, along with a couple of road closures, it looks like the city has made great strides in rebounding from the recent flood damage. In fact, we drove by Mayflower Hall(the large flooded residence hall which was originally slated to be closed for fall semester) several times over the weekend, and no matter what time of (weekend) day it was, there seemed to be reconstruction and repair work going on there, and UI insists that Mayflower will be open for fall semester. As for the "Old Capitol"(?) business district, it seemed to be up and running at full steam and (from that particular district alone) you almost wouldn't know that there had been a flood in the city. BTW, it was my first visit to IC and I was quite impressed.

yeah i went july 17th for orientation. the only thing that really impacted me was the imu being shut down. everything else looks great. when i went city park was still mildly underwater. however, i think thats over by now so ull be good!
