Dorm Advice

Where would a male, outgoing, social freshman live at KU?

My S loves Oliver Hall. It has its own dining hall and is located right next to Allen Fieldhouse and across the street from the rec center. It isn't the nicest or newest dorm, but it has a great location. Lots of outgoing kids live there.

I live in Hashinger Hall, and it is one of the most SOCIAL dorms we've got. It really is like a large family. I'm not outgoing, so I haven't met anybody really, but my roommate is as outgoing as they get and she has a ton of friends. I live in Hash for the dance studio, but I still do like it.

Oliver is pretty nice, too, but the dorms are crap. Hash is renovated.

If possible, take a campus tour. They will take you through Hash and McCollum.

^^My S took a few summer classes and stayed in Hashinger and did love the rooms. He said he wished he could pick up Hash and move it to Oliver's location!

You can send in an app for the dorms before you're admitted - not a bad idea in case there's any overcrowding, and then you have priority in choosing where to live.
