Tips? Scholarships?

Not the most active board, but I'll give it a shot. I have a kid who has U-Maine at the top of the list. I haven't been able to figure out why, but it appears to be based on wanting to live in Maine someday, and liking winter. There are very few reviews on the school on **************.com, theu.com, etc. Before we take a road trip to visit the school (either a plane trip or several days in a car), can anyone report on what it's really like? Any comments on the availability of scholarships, particularly for out-of-state residents? My kid has about a 3.6-3.7 GPA and 1250 SATS, good activities/recs, etc.

Your kid will probably get in. I live about an hour from UMaine, good school, cheap tuition (about 16k for out-of-staters). I believe there are many good scholarship programs. Your kid's a shoe-in.
